-The Geophagus caqueta, also known as the Golden Earth Eater Cichlid, is an uncommon and sought-after species in the aquarium hobby. Native to the remote Rio Caqueta River Basin in Colombia, their challenging collection process adds to their allure among collectors.
-In their natural habitat, the climate ranges from 68-90ยฐF, so they can thrive in room temperature tanks. These cichlids can grow to 6-8 inches and live up to 8-10 years. Known for their peaceful nature, they are often kept in groups, sifting through sand to feed on invertebrates, detritus, and insect larvae. Their striking appearance features a golden base with distinct markings and a fluorescent blue-green shimmer.
-Golden Earth Eaters do well in a 75-gallon aquarium with hardy plants, rocks, and driftwood. They enjoy sifting through the sand, making them an engaging addition to the tank. They can coexist with various tank mates, including other cichlids, Discus, barbs, tetras, catfish, loaches, and even puffers.
