This summer, I challenged myself and Mr Huck to try a completely new kind of competition and tried multiple trail competitions all over oregon!
Proud of him is an understatement! 🥰 We placed at every event we entered and he put his entire trust into me at every obstacle. We won our first prize beyond a ribbon competing together, met SO many wonderful people, connected closer with a few I already love, and learned so much about ourselves and areas we can improve to return next year!

To say I am proud of this c**t just isn't enough to cover how I feel! Friday we hauled to town for his third ride- as well as his first ride outside of the round pen. That night happened to be dirt track races at the grounds, his first time seeing the whole area, and in a large space with other horses working around us. And off he rode with no question, no funny business! A wonderful ride for us both that makes me so much more excited to see where he goes someday💗

Training a horse is building trust with every step of the process. It should be a slowly constructed partnership between horse and rider. No partner should be put in a stressful situation and let to run around and "figure it out." This only creates tension between the team.
I'm loving the partner this c**t is turning into😊

It FINALLY happened! Tonka had the confidence and clarity to be curious about a person. It seems funny, but this is a massive step for this big guy. Getting him to turn off his reactive brain and turn on his thinking has been a challenge for me- and very fun learning to talk to him🩶
