We had to remove the fence line to trench a new main line for electric service from a utilities company pole to a new meter on the barn. There is temporary round pen panels there to keep the babies away from it. I kept seeing the twine untied and now I know WHY.

Get horses they said…it will be fun they said. 👿

Breeding….is not for the faint of heart.
It’s extremely rewarding AND it’s extremely emotional and can be absolutely devastating.
This foaling season has started off the latter.
Our much awaited foal from Lilly (one of only two we have for 2024) was meant for greater things, it seems.
Just when we thought he had turned the corner because he was responding very well to treatment, we suddenly, unexpectedly lost him. He was 9 days old. Our vet thinks it was likely myocarditis as the result of his lack of colostrum from his (first time) mom.
To say we we’re devastated would be an understatement.
