Our dogs are a part of our family, are socialized regularly with our children and other family pets, are under regular veterinary care, and live in our smoke free home with us. She has an extensive championship line in the show world and is one of the dogs used in my therapy practice to help individuals that experience anxiety, behavioral concerns, and have trauma-histories. We will only breed her
once per year for 4 years to ensure that her health is not jeopardized. Our male German Shepherd (Ashe) also has a championship line for working tasks such as schutzhund. We carefully select which homes our puppies go to as we only sell our puppies to individuals who wish for them to be a part of their family as they are ours until they join their new homes. After the puppies are born, we work with them daily. We ensure their good health (which is guaranteed), they receive their veterinary care from our family vet, they receive lots of kisses and cuddles from both my my children and I. We even start house-breaking the pups once they start eating solid foods (at approximately four-five weeks) so when they go to their new families, they are off to a good start. We have a contract which the new owners must complete which in addition to the traditional verbiage we ask for the new owner to agree that if for some reason they cannot keep their puppy (at any point in the future and for any reason), that they return the dog to us. This way, we avoid the possibility that our puppies get sent to any shelter or pound. With each litter that we whelp, we sell all but 1-2 puppies. The puppies we keep are further trained for therapy dog work and placed with individuals that experience extreme anxiety or PTSD. The sales of the rest of the puppies offsets the cost so we can place these puppies with people that need them for free. Training dogs for therapy is very expensive and time consuming but it has been found to be extremely helpful for people with Anxiety Disorders and many Trauma disorders to engage regularly with animals. Our breeding program is a part of CCLS Family Services mission to help people and animals achieve and maintain safety and happiness.
