Ive always considered a trophy as to time place and personal accomplishment. However I know some of yall are stats folks. The minimum Boone and Crockett score to get in the books is 160 inches. Thats a lot of bone! What does it take to make that number?
Well for easy math when your looking at your buck a 20” inch spread on a ten point with 20” main beams is 60” now weve gotta the remaining inches outta length of tine and circumference of antlers. 8 more pounts to score with an average of 10 inch length is 80” 60”+80” equals 140”and if we average 3” circumference at 4 points on both sides of the antlers that makes 24” now youre at 164.
While I am not an official scorer i can read a tape and instructions to where when and how. 164 inches as my ol buddy would say thats a big s.o.b. !
Best of Luck to all and may we all get the trophy of our liking.

Handy dander tip, since were neaking up if not already there on archery season. If your gonna cape a deer for taxidermy this is the cuts, make your taxidermist happy give them a quality cape to work with. Avoid horizontal cuts across the hair especially in the neck! Remember the back of the cape and the brisket of the cape needs to be the same length!
Taxidermist always get short briskets.
