This past Monday, several of our chapter members made the trek to Big Timber to compete in the Sweet Grass Showdown. Though we were light on numbers, the ladies that made the trip clearly showed up to compete!

For our first highlight, in floriculture, Tenley got called "on stage" in the virtual awards ceremony for taking 3rd place in the junior division!

Also in floriculture, shout out to Blythe for trying out a new contest and making a great arrangement.

While floriculture was going on, our Vet Science team (Tally, Hailey, Addy, and Emmalyn) was across town competing. With 216 contestants in the event, all four members placed in the top 70, including three in the top 50! These placings were good enough to earn the team 7th out of 45. And if she had competed at the junior level, Emmalyn would have placed just outside the top 10.

Finally, we had three girls brave the cold to compete in livestock judging later in the day. In the junior division, all three placed in the top half, with a solid showing. Out of 63 competitors, Tenley led the team in 15th.

All six members showed that they're more than capable of competing with the best in state!

Last week, our chapter sent our Floriculture and Sales teams to Sidney for the district contests.

Both of the varsity squads took 2nd place, continuing our strong start to the year! The floriculture team, pictured here, included Azure, Elsie, Chandi, and Lila, with Azure (3rd), Elsie (6th), and Lila (10th) all finishing in the top 10!

Our JV floriculture team also performed well, earning 1st place as a team. Individually, Tenley (3rd) and Scarlet (5th) placed top 10, with Kalli and Jodi rounding out the team.

On the Sales side, our varsity team included Rowan, Kaston, Lane, and Parker. Individually, Kaston finished 5th and Rowan earned 7th.

In JV Sales, Kalli took 4th individually.

Great job to both teams!

Last week, we brought 16 high school members to Bozeman to compete in Montana FFA’s largest event of the year- Ag Expo sponsored by Montana John Deere Dealers.

With more than 1900 members in attendance, our Bulldogs competed in 9 different events, as well as attending workshops.

They represented our chapter and community extremely well. While some members were disappointed not to get called on stage Saturday, there are plenty of reasons to believe that results showed we’re on the right track for districts and state!

Time to get back to work!
