I wanted to give a shout-out to Blue Mountain Humane Association in LaGrande. It was my first time visiting this particular facility but I was incredibly impressed with the knowledge of the staff/volunteers. The shelter is clean and it is very obvious that the animals there are well taken care of. Including taking the dogs on hikes! If you are thinking of donating to a local shelter these guys could use the help. Please support them however you can, volunteer, donations or ask them directly what they need.

Just went and had an assessment and lesson with Ru-ru (R***r). If you like bully breeds this is the dog for you!

This young bully mix has had a rough start and was hit by a car, which ended up with him having an amputation. He seems to like other dogs and was friendly with cats. His fosters have been working on basic obedience and manners. We will continue working on obedience and confidence building, But I was incredibly impressed with this pup. My foster Chloe was adopted by a wonderful family with new dog siblings and acreage to run. I am absolutely thrilled for her. She deserved it. This is her with her new fur brothers. She is the one in the red collar. (Both of her siblings are rescues as well, including the incredibly sweet doberman).

Everyone watch TV with their dogs! 🤣

Basil has learned to watch our security cameras and see people pull up to our house. She then goes to the door to greet them. When she sees a cat on the screen she barks and wants to go outside. It's crazy how smart dogs are and how good they are with technology.

Welcome Copper! Copper is my newest foster. He is available for adoption from Best Friends of Baker, Inc. He is a young male mix and is here to brush up on some obedience and manners. I have only had him about 12 hours now but so far he is very sweet and curious and gets along with the whole pack. Yay!

For those of you who are working with me on "relax on a mat" this is what I have been talking about. Basil will go and find her blanket on the floor and lay on it. Even if it is waiting to go in the laundry. She knows if it's on the floor she is supposed to lay on it and be still.

Please don't dump your dogs! If you can't take care of them ask for help. There are tons of us that communicate behind the scenes to coordinate foster homes and help dogs in need. It is a lot easier to help a dog before they become feral. Rehabilitation takes a long time and a certain kind of personality and there aren't very many of us that are willing to work with those kinds of dogs. So please ask for help!

A kind citizen alerted us to a BOX OF PUPPIES left on top of a garbage can at Grecian Heights Park. It is 30 degrees outside. This is NOT okay. Animal abandonment is a crime, and leaving vulnerable puppies outdoors to freeze to death is reprehensible. If anyone knows where these puppies came from, please alert the police by calling 541-966-3651. We will need fosters for these puppies.

**Adopted!** 🥰

I have had 11 fosters this year and I wanted to say something about my foster, Chloe. She is special. Chloe is adorable. She is one of the sweetest dogs I have ever met. She loves all people and all dogs. The only thing she wants is to be included. She is very excited to please, loves to play, learns quickly and gives the best dog hugs I have ever gotten. She is petite and young and I'm always wondering why she isn't adopted yet? If you want an opportunity to meet with this girl just reach out. She went on a training walk with a couple of my clients this morning and their dogs. She instantly just fit right in and as they left she kept turning around and wanting to go with them. She deserves a home and if you want an affectionate dog, she is the one. Please share.

Be Kind

Last night we were sitting around watching TV and my husband reached to grab his water bottle. It was a little too quickly and Nikki, (who loves my husband) screamed and cowered away from him. It was horrible. I almost started crying.

As a dog foster parent you forget sometimes the terrible past these dogs have gone through. They become part of your family for the time they are there. Until suddenly they remind you that they are so vulnerable.

We, of course, showed Nikki the water bottle and she settled down easily and cuddled back up on the couch. But it was a reminder. So the point of my story is to be kind. Be kind to others whether they are people or animals. No dog should ever have that fear of being hurt like that.

Found dog in Pendleton. Rescues are all full. I was asked to post it in case someone would have room for her even temporarily or know where she belongs. Acts kennel trained and potty trained. Also, in heat. The finder can't keep her because she has male dogs. Please share!!!

Best Friends of Baker found a wonderful breed aware rescue for Pearl and she's on her way to Southern Oregon tomorrow to start her new chapter!" **

Pearl needs your help! She has overcome so much trauma but still loves people. She is waiting for a foster or adopter and she is running out of time. Rescue is hard. Volunteers pour their heart and soul into these animals, raise funding for medical treatment, and then they watch while the dog is forgotten in a cage. Not enough homes and people just keep on breeding their dogs. This dog needs a chance. Just a chance.

She needs a home where she can be the only dog. She has such an amazing personality and can continue to make forward progress if someone would just try. I have met her and temperament tested her and most of her issues can totally be overcome. I will help you get started with her. If you can't foster please share! She is available through Best Friends of Baker, Inc.
