Fabulous Makeover Friday

If you don't bathe your dog often enough, their coat and skin can start to have many problems like odors, infections, irritations, parasites, skin sores, and more. They are similar to us in that way.

If you don't clip their nails, it can cause pain while doing daily activities. It will reduce traction on certain flooring types, cause stress on their joints (arthritis). It can cause the paws to become infected and the nails to crack/split open. It can cause your dog to use their feet improperly (think of having something cause pain under your foot causing you to walk a certain way).

Please keep your dog bathed and their nails short. ❤️

I can’t stress how important it is to brush all the way to the skin. Otherwise, this is what happens. After a while of not brushing properly, it will begin to feel as if you have brushed thoroughly, in fact you will only be brushing the surface. The hair will then continue to get tangled in the matted web as your pup sheds, get tighter, sores can form underneath the fur and cause permanent injury, and it will pull away from the skin to create a bald spot. Matts cause pain, itching, irritation, and can cause infection. Ticks and fleas can live deep in the matts and cause infestation. The sores can accumulate maggots.

If you need help showing the proper way to brush your pup stop by the shop and we would be honored to show you. Every pup deserves the happiest life just as we do.
