We have been vaccinating dogs with Clinica Sierra Vista Street Medicine team and other local outreach programs for over 2 years.
Adding microchips to help keep animals out of the shelter and returned to their owners fast is our latest project. We are confident this will speed up the process of return to owner.
If you have a couple of hours during the week to help join us with record keeping please text 6614318053.

61 animals fixed today by in our target zip codes! (The zips where 80% of shelter intake comes from and have the lowest income levels) Huge thanks to the amazing SNIP Bus-Spay Neuter Imperative Project staff who show up every day and work their butts off, Dr. Flynn and Dr. Darrow for getting all these animals spayed and neutered and DoorDash for delivering the nugget festival. Teamwork does make the dream work and we are chipping away at getting as many animals fixed at each clinic. We also vaccinated 8 puppies and an adult pittie when we delivered Diamond back to her owner this afternoon.

Rafael was a very last minute add on from the shelter. As we were picking up a lot of dogs from two shelters we were asked if we could help this boy.
He was in medical as his tail had to be removed after some idiot thought they could do it themselves with rubber bands.
So thankful that Dr Eller and her amazing medical staff were able to save him and we begged for him to go too.
Fortunately for him Lorin Thomas was able to take him and he’s heading off to Canada 🇨🇦

What a difference! This scared abandoned dog was left in a crate outside the shelter with 4 family members who all looked alike.
The staff came to work to find them left outside and we managed to get all 5 out. Thus handsome guy was laying in a huddle with the others in the noisy stray kennels
He was so scared curled in a ball but look at him now and he’s been adopted!

Please share and donate if you can so we can keep the dogs fed and vaccinated! We are all volunteers so every donation goes to the dogs.

⚠️ We need a rescue out of Kern county to take these 9 bottle babies. Approx. one week old, owner is living on the streets and is willing to surrender the puppies so they can get out of the heat and will let us fix the mom when her milk dries up
Please share and help us network to find a rescue to take them, we can transport and hold for a few days to make arrangements to get them out of here.
It’s going to be 100 degrees this week so we need to act fast.

Monday, April 30 we snipped 47 animals with SNIP Bus-Spay Neuter Imperative Project and SOS Dog Rescue - Strength of Shadow.
Huge thanks to all the SNIP staff as we continue to help dog owners in high shelter intake areas stop producing litters!

So much happening today! While SNIP Bus-Spay Neuter Imperative Project was at City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center providing spay and neuter surgery for 4️⃣7️⃣ dogs and cats, Kern SAFE was in Oildale canvassing door to door for our upcoming vaccination clinic.
Today’s spay and neuter clinic was sponsored by SOS Dog Rescue - Strength of Shadow and Unity K9 Express Rescue & Outreach. Thank you to Dr Metzler, Dr Darrow and the SNIP team for doing what they do best. Thank you to Angry Barnyard BBQ for catering the best BBQ lunch for the clinic staff and volunteers.
Thank you to Robbie, Dawn and Krystyana for hitting the streets of Oildale and spreading awareness. For information on our upcoming vaccine clinic in Oildale make sure to tune in to KGET - TV 17 Bakersfield tomorrow as the continue coverage on Kern’s Pet Crisis.

These are the text and requests we get to help dogs get out of the shelter.
It’s hard to say no and we are so thankful that the shelter staff reaches out to us and to our amazing rescue partners that take the dogs after we get them out.
This puppy head trauma looks like bite wounds and has a guarded prognosis but deserves a chance to live.
Help us if you can and please share as we continue to save the voiceless, innocent dogs.

We love seeing our rescued pus going to Pibble and All Paws Rescue in WA.
Huge thanks to the fosters that helped get these pups out of Kern county!

This is the reality of our pet crisis in Bakersfield.
Please donate puppy kibble from our Amazon wishlist or Venmo -expressrescue last 4 of phone number 8053 so we can keep this mama and all the foster dogs and pups fed!
Our shelters are at a breaking point with dog intake at an all time high and 40% are puppies.
This very pregnant mom was about to have puppies and was going to be spayed. The reality is at this far along the puppies are viable and would have to be euthanized.
Let that sink in for a minute.
We all think our jobs suck but imagine having to euthanize puppies.
It’s heartbreaking, but sadly this is our reality. There is no room and shelters and rescues are completely maxed out.
Fortunately for this girl our rescue/foster coordinator was at the shelter picking up some dogs and happened to be in medical and when told about the mom didn’t hesitate to take her. We know the medical staff did not want to do this but the situation in the shelters is so dire right now.
For now this pregnant girl is safe with her Unity K9 foster Melissa Montoya and will be going to Monday.
