This good boy was alerting (at 2:30am) about a neighbor's injured goat. Pack of 4 dogs roaming the streets, not sure where this goat was sleeping but they found it-and when I got out there it was laying at the end of the driveway. PD notified about the dogs, they said they would notify owners about livestock. 😢

Badger won't get much sleep tonight - he was all on alert, that's for sure!

Ima go back to sleep now - I hope
I swore it was a human being out there, bellowing in pain, which was why I originally called 911. I thought somebody had gotten hit by a car or something.

LOTS of phosphorus, zero nitrogen (good thing there's lots of old p**p around here), and a very alkaline soil.

Without the tractor 🚜 (still at the shop), I am using an old area that will only support above ground crops, due to the gravelly nature of it, but it will give us a start since we are so far behind. Hard as a rock, needs OM that's for sure.

Job hazard.... wasp sting. Ouchie! But they are meat eaters, so I try not to disturb their nests unless they are in compromising places, like inside the horse stall or above my door. But I have witnessed and had volunteers working here. Witness a wasp carry off a full grown tomato hornworm before. They are definitely a valuable asset to your garden so try not to kill all of them.

Reminds me of when we had Tootsie. Over at Rancho Carranza this am watering and putting down more seeds.

We actually did a small scale model of this here. We have carried D's Sourdough, Texas Honeybee Guild honey and several others, Full Quiver Farms has a co op drop here and whenever our farms had leftover produce, we always tried to match them up with local chefs! Farming IS hard enough - farm stops and market producers can do so much to help!

Ol' JD is still out of commission - that means the gardens are not ready yet. Fellow grower about 10 mins away set aside a bit of space and I have put in 3 types of cukes, cabbage and will add lettuce. Peas and arugula can go in our feeder/planter, the basil is still thick as thieves right now in half of it tho.

Hope to get the tractor back next week - parts are coming. And baby guineas are growing up!! ❤️

So as I was feeding last night, I saw a barn rat run across the rafter - then I heard one squealing - Badger heard it, too. We looked at each other and it squeaked again. Sounded like it was coming from the ground behind a feed barrel, so I shined a light down there and I not only found my scooper, but saw why there had been a squealing....

Real Food, Grown with Integrity

Eden’s main mission is to help people achieve access to better health through safer gardening techniques and local, organic and “un-conventional” food.

Open to the public seasonally, Eden's Organic Garden Center hosts a small neighborhood farmers' market each 1st, 3rd and 5th Saturday (April - Dec.). We are a producers only and only producers that practice un-conventional (traditional) or certified organic growing methods are welcome. The garden center will stock some produce from local producers who can’t make it to our market and as available, offer meats & eggs from animals raised on grass & without synthetic chemicals. All of our producers are Non GMO, traditional farmers using un-conventional methods like letting land lay fallow, using animal products to fertilize and common sense to work with Nature, not against her.

Eden’s Garden CSA Farm is one of those producers and grows right here on the back 14 acres behind the garden center and offers product through a CSA membership program and sells during Market Day.

You will also find organic gardening products, organic animal feed (Coyote Creek), all natural local feeds (Muenster Milling) and lots of friendly chickens on the loose to entertain you while you shop. Come on out to the farm for Market Day, join our CSA and shake the hand that feeds you! Real Food, Grown with Integrity.
