Help us welcome our newest 4 week board and train dogs- Castiel & Molly 🐾
Cas is a 4 month-old German Shorthaired Pointer who has had a super difficult time getting the hang of potty training since his parents brought him home. Our biggest focus during his time here will be helping Cas get comfortable using the bathroom OUTSIDE, but we’ll also be spending plenty of time socializing appropriately with new people and dogs, and learning all about expectations for basic obedience skills and household manners.
Molly is a 9 month-old Wheaten Terrier here to solidify her basic obedience skills (especially her leash manners), and to address some undesirable behaviors like jumping up on people and nipping when overly excited.

Welcome our newest board & train dogs- Siobhan, Atlas, Modi, and Winston! 💚
Siobhan is a 1 year-old German Shepherd here for a 4 week board and train focusing on instilling some reliable basic obedience skills, proofing her off leash recall, learning about expectations for behavior in the house (especially regarding cats), and curbing some adolescent dog reactivity.
Atlas is a 1 year-old German Shorthaired Pointer also here for a 4 week board and train to address some fear-based reactivity. We’ll be focusing on helping him build confidence in his interactions with new people and working towards being much more comfortable with examinations and handling!
Modi is a 1 year-old German Shepherd- a son of Kenzie’s dog Envy, and a littermate brother to our trainer Shanna’s dog Feyre 🥹- and he’s here for a 4 week board and train program as well! We will be working on solidifying his current knowledge of basic obedience skills (focusing especially hard on leash manners) and teaching a reliable off leash recall proofed heavily around distractions.
Winston is a 4 year-old mixed breed boy here for a 2 week program! While he’s here, we’ll be focusing on building confidence in new situations, solidifying his off leash recall, and proofing his basic obedience skills around distractions.

Peach is an 8 month-old Goldendoodle here to work on solidifying her basic obedience and household manners. We’ll be focusing specifically on teaching a reliable off leash recall, instilling some much needed leash manners, and addressing her tendency to jump up on people when she’s excited.

Our board and train programs are designed to maximize comfort, safety, and success for every dog we work with 🫶🏼
• We are not a big box dog training company filling kennels upon kennels in a facility to maximize profit- all dogs in our programs stay in their trainer’s home with them for the duration of their board and train to allow for 24/7 care & supervision during their stay.
• We keep our programs very small (no more than 4 dogs at one time) to ensure that all dogs in our care receive the attention they deserve each day in the form of training sessions, daily exercise, and play!
• We are deeply committed to helping owners feel comfortable and involved throughout the entire board and train process- we provide consistent updates, photos/videos, and support that extends well beyond the conclusion of your dog’s board and train program.

Welcome Hank to our 4 week board and train program! 😍
This very handsome guy is a 2 year-old Rhodesian Ridgeback here to work on building confidence, addressing his leash reactivity, instilling a very reliable off leash recall, and proofing his knowledge of basic obedience skills & household manners around distractions.

Hendrix is a 16 week-old Brittany Spaniel here for a Puppy Foundation board and train! He’ll be spending the next few weeks learning all about potty training, socialization, manners, and foundational obedience skills.
Rue is a 1 year-old Goldendoodle here for a 2 week board and train. This sweet girl did puppy lessons with us when she was just a baby, and we’re so excited to have her back! We’ll be focusing on solidifying her loose leash walking and off leash recall, as well as addressing her tendency to jump and nip when she’s overly excited.

By now, many of us have seen recent video circulating of a client dog being severely mistreated at the hands of their trainer while enrolled in an in-home board and train program in the Kansas City area. If you haven’t seen the exact video I’m referencing, it’s likely that you’ve seen or heard of other similar situations in other areas- they happen far, far too frequently.
Owners place so much of their trust in us to care for their dogs, prioritize their wellbeing, and keep them safe (and they often invest a good amount of money in the process as well). The trainers who breach that trust not only endanger the dogs in their care, but also disadvantage the ethical trainers who DO operate with the best intentions by bringing additional scrutiny and wariness to board and train programs as a whole.
It is a PRIVILEGE to be trusted with the care & keeping of these dogs, and we are intensely dedicated to doing right by them always; if your dog needs vet care, they will always be taken straight to the vet. If your dog is having a hard time, we will always notify you immediately. If we feel like we might not be the best people to help you reach your goals, we will always tell you that without hesitation.
There are reputable board and train programs out there, and we are deeply committed to being one of them 🩶

Say hello to our January 4 week board and train dogs! ✨
Spudz is a super sweet 1 year-old German Shorthair Pointer here to solidify his basic obedience knowledge and curb the bad habit he’s developed of digging up his family’s yard.
Tilly is a 7 month-old Mini Aussie here for a behavior modification program- she is a super nervous girl who needs help building confidence and learning to cope appropriately with stress in the presence of new people and dogs. Alongside careful socialization and desensitization, we’ll also be working on establishing reliable basic obedience skills, solidifying an off leash recall, and addressing her desire to chase her family’s chickens.
Lola is a 1 year-old mixed breed girl who can be a bit of an escape artist! She’s here to work through some separation anxiety, and to learn to respect boundaries like kennels and fences. We’ll also be working to instill reliable obedience skills both on and off leash, as well as working on household manners (especially greeting people politely).
Storm is a 2 year-old German Shepherd here to work on developing some much more appropriate behavior in the house, especially when it comes to nuisance barking, jumping up on people, and learning to settle down more consistently. We’ll also be working on her on and off leash obedience skills to help her become a much more enjoyable girl overall for her family to spend time with!

These girlies are housemates to our recent 4 week board and train graduate, Georgia!
Marlowe is a 6 month-old Australian Shepherd, and Addie is an 8 month-old Poodle. Both girls are here to work on their basic obedience skills and household manners, and we’ll be working on building confidence around new people and dogs as well!

Welcome Georgia & Acadia to our 4 week board and train program! 🌟
Georgia is a 1 year-old Bernedoodle here to solidify her on and off leash obedience (especially when distractions are present), and to work through some resource guarding concerns.

This is a basic obedience program suitable for dogs 5 months and older who need help mastering skills like:

Beretta is a 6 month-old Poodle here to learn all about the basics! We’ll be focusing especially hard on proofing a solid recall, curbing her tendency to jump up on people, and helping her learn to decompress more easily in the house.
Stevi is a 9 month-old Belgian Malinois here for a behavior modification program. She is incredibly fearful of strange people and dogs, and we’ll be working hard over the next few weeks to help her build some confidence, and to help her learn appropriate coping skills in moments where she is uncomfortable.

Welcome our newest board and train dogs- Havi, Link, Zipp, and Aggie 🌟
Havi is a 1 year-old German Shepherd here for a 4 week board and train, focused specifically on building better manners and social skills when it comes to greeting new people or dogs!
Link is a 4 year-old German Shepherd also here for a 4 week board and train program. We’ll be working hard to help him work through his dog reactivity while also instilling reliable basic obedience and off leash skills!
Zipp is a 7 year-old mixed breed boy (and Link’s housemate) here for a 2 week board and train! We’ll be focusing on teaching reliable loose leash walking skills, an off leash recall, and neutrality around distractions.

Meet our newest 2 week board and train dogs- Tuesday, Wyatt, and Tatra 🫶🏼
Tuesday is a 1 year-old mixed breed girl here to work on building confidence in her interactions with new people, developing reliability in her basic obedience skills, and solidifying her off leash recall!
Wyatt is a 1 year-old Golden Retriever, and a half brother to Penelope- one of our April board and train pups! Wyatt is focusing on improving his loose leash walking skills, his off leash recall, and his household manners.
Tatra is a 1 year-old German Shepherd who recently finished up a Basic Obedience private lessons program with us! She’s here to continue building on those skills, and to receive some additional proofing around more intense distractions in public places.

Board and Trains ≠ Daycare Increasingly often, we find ourselves having conversations with potential clients who are under the impression that throughout their dog’s prospective board and train program, they should be given frequent, unrestricted play time with the other dogs in our care. Those people are generally a little taken aback to learn that not only are we very selective about which dogs are allowed to interact with each other during their time with us, we also discourage rough housing, excessive chasing, and other types of overzealous play that are common in daycare environments, but do not further our goal of creating a better behaved companion for your household. Consider this our public service announcement: if you are considering signing your dog up for a board and train program envisioning that they will be freely running and playing with the other dogs in our care the majority of the time, this is not the program for you. The priority of our board and train programs is to progress your dog towards your behavior and obedience goals, establish structure and boundaries, and create neutral and respectful interaction with the world around them. These concepts are essential in ensuring that you as the client get what you’re paying us for- a well rounded, balanced companion you can enjoy life a little more easily with- but they do not align with the mentality that constant free play with other dogs creates: dogs who find more value in chasing down and interacting with strange dogs than anything their owners are asking of them. Does this mean that your dog won’t be allowed to interact with other dogs during their time with us? Not necessarily! We do allow interaction with our personal dogs and other board and train dogs when it’s appropriate, but the focus is on teaching your dog how to be NEUTRAL around other dogs; how to LISTEN reliably around other dogs; how to be RESPECTFUL in their interactions with other dogs. Archie finished up her 2 week board and train on Monday, and we’re so happy with the progress she made in her time with us! Off leash reliability opens up the door for SO many new freedoms for our dogs! Bentley is a 6 month-old Goldendoodle who previously was pretty insecure about the world around him- because he wasn’t trustworthy off leash, there were not many opportunities for the type of play or exposure that would help him develop his social & environmental skills. A huge focus for us throughout his 4 week board and train has been to help him build confidence- establishing reliability off leash and giving him plenty of opportunities for positive experiences as a result of that additional freedom has been a total game changer for Bentley! While he was previously scared to leave my side and extremely overwhelmed by the outside world, he’s now confident enough to run, play, and explore (and come back to me when called, every time). Chance just finished up his Basic Obedience private lessons with Kenzie, and we are SO proud of all of the progress he’s made 👏🏼 When we first started working with Chance, his mom couldn’t even walk him because of how wild and bitey he was. Now, he’s a super little loose leash walker who can remain calm, focused, and respectful even with exciting distractions nearby. Pepper | 4 Week Board and Train
Pepper finished up her 4 week board and train program with Kenzie yesterday, and we spent some time working with her family to ensure that everything she learns transfers easily back home with them! We’ll miss this fun girl here, but we’re so excited to see her thrive back at home with her people 💚
Tilly | 4 Week Board and Train
Tilly the Bernedoodle is all finished with her 4 week board and train, and we spent some time this afternoon working with her mom to make sure that all of her new skills will transfer over with her as they head back home together! While she was here, we worked hard on solidifying Tilly’s obedience both on and off leash, and we are so happy with the progress that she made in her time here with Kenzie. She was excited to show off her newfound leash manners, her reliable off leash stays, and the way that she’s learned to greet people / receive attention politely (you can see her make the excellent choice to sit next to her mom instead of jumping up for attention towards the end of the video, which is HUGE progress for her) 😍 We’re sure going to miss this sweet girl here, but we’re so excited that she’ll get to spend the holidays with her mom showing off all of the new skills and manners she’s acquired in her time with us. *we are now taking reservations for Spring board and trains in both Ottawa, KS and Ankeny, IA- please reach out for more information or to get your dog signed up!*
A little bit of off leash work with some of our current board and trains, Tilly and Mako, this morning! Tilly the Bernedoodle has one week left to go in her 4 week board and train program, while Mako the Doberman puppy is 4 days into his 2 week board and train. Both of these guys are learning to respond to commands even with the added distractions of other dogs nearby, lots of new smells, and tons of room to run! We are super happy with their progress so far ☺️
Off Leash Training
Kenzie’s dogs have been enjoying plenty of off leash hiking lately! Off leash training opens up so many doors for our dogs to enjoy life in ways that are just not feasible for dogs without reliable training. Our dogs can spend time exploring, swimming, running, and playing without worry that they will run off or engage in any other dangerous behaviors. They earn so many new freedoms and opportunities simply because they’re well trained. However, with off leash freedom comes huge responsibility on the owner’s part- and if your dogs can’t do THIS dependably, they’re not ready to be off leash yet. Off leash freedom means that your dog’s recall and obedience should be completely reliable at all times, no matter what distractions are around. It’s our responsibility to keep our dogs (and the dogs and people around us) safe and comfortable- if your dog isn’t quite there yet, we’d be happy to help you 💚
Cooper | Loose Leash Walking
Cooper the Labrador Retriever puppy just finished up his 2 week board and train program with us! He is a naturally super rambunctious boy, and one of his parents’ biggest complaints about his behavior was that it was impossible to take him for a walk. We worked hard to teach Cooper some reliable leash manners so that his parents can enjoy the time they spend with their boy a little bit more 💚
Tucker | 2 Week Board and Train
Tucker finished up his 2 week board and train with Kenzie last night! 👏🏼 He is a BIG dog who came to us with no manners to speak of- he jumped on anyone and everyone, he dragged his owners around on walks, and he listened only when it was convenient for him. He left here with leash manners, reliable obedience, and a solid understanding of how to be a respectful and well behaved boy that his family can truly enjoy spending time with 💚 • • *Due to a cancellation, we have one spot remaining for a 2 week board and train starting on August 18! Riley | Loose Leash Walking
Riley wrapped up her 2 week board and train with Kenzie this evening, and we are so proud of all of the progress this girl has made during her time with us! One of the biggest complaints that her family had about her prior to starting training was that they could not walk her- she dragged and pulled into the leash so badly that walks with her were pretty miserable for everyone involved. Now, her family can enjoy a lifetime of loose leash walking with their good girl 🙌🏼 • • We currently have one spot remaining for a 2 week board and train beginning on August 18!
Coco’s Before & After | 4 Week Board and Train
We said goodbye to Coco today as she headed back home after finishing up her 4 week board and train with Litany! Coco came to us with tons of pent up energy and anxiety, and no obedience to speak of. This girl loved to live life on HER terms, and that meant acting on impulse constantly. Coco was especially difficult to walk on leash because she dragged and pulled wherever she wanted to go, and she had a pretty bad habit of jumping on guests/people trying to greet. In her 4 weeks with us, we have seen a massive turnaround in her behavior! By implementing clear rules and boundaries, we helped her access a more balanced state of mind overall. Rather than allowing her to constantly act on impulse and anxiety, we helped direct that energy into behaviors that were productive instead. In doing so, Coco learned how to THINK and make conscious, positive decisions instead of simply engaging in whatever behavior was most enticing at the time (dragging us around on the leash, jumping, zooming on and off the furniture, etc.). We are thrilled with the change we’ve seen in Coco’s overall behavior and state of mind throughout her time here, and we are eager to offer all of the support we can as she transitions those new skills to life back at home with her mom 💚
Basic Obedience with Luna
Luna is a 7 month-old mixed breed puppy who is almost finished with her Basic Obedience private lessons! We have had so much fun helping this feisty girl learn how to become a well mannered member of her family, and we’re so happy with all of the progress she’s made throughout her lessons! 🐾
Hardy’s BH-VT Routine (IGP Board and Train)
Hardy, our IGP board and train boy, earned his BH-VT title with his trainer Kenzie at the Freedom Working Dogs trial on Friday evening! Huge “thank you” to Diamond Peak German Shepherd Dogs for trusting us with your boy 💚
Private Lesson with Litany
Moscatto the American Bully got to practice her down-stay with distraction during her private lesson with Litany this week! 🙌🏼 Litany’s personal dog, Xion, is also relaxing in a climb while Gordi, one of our 4 week board and train dogs, practices his heeling! Check out Tifa! 🌟 Tifa has spent the last 4 weeks in our board and train program learning on and off leash obedience and working through her reactivity issues. At her drop off, Tifa was barking, growling, and lunging at any new dogs or people she saw. After plenty of desensitization, structure, and consistency throughout her board and train, this is her walking confidently and obediently down a busy street with our trainer Litany 🙌🏼 We are looking forward to watching Tifa continue to thrive back at home with her family!
