Did you know we have a Senior to Senior program here?! Thanks to the Saratoga County Department of Aging and Youth Services, any Saratoga County resident over 60 yrs old that adopts a pet over 5 yrs qualify for a discounted adoption!

So what are the benefits of adopting a senior pet?

🐾 No more guesswork! Many older pets have already reached their adult weight and have established personalities making it easier to find the right fit!
🐾 Fun times are still ahead! While it's true that some senior pets may not be up to running and playing for hours on end, most do still love to have fun!
🐾 You'll receive unconditional love! Just like young kittens, senior cats will love you unconditionally. They are ready to be your BFF (best fur friend).

THEY'RE HERE! The 2025 Saratoga County K-9 calendar has arrived and is available today!

All proceeds go directly to the Saratoga County K-9 fund, which aids in emergency medical care, training and equipment for our K-9 partners.

The calendars are $15 and can be purchased in person at the following locations:

It's time for another !

"The weekend of June 8, 2024, I came in to look for a dog to adopt. The dog I was originally looking at was getting adopted that day. One of the staff members then asked me what I was looking for. This staff member listened and then took what I was looking for into consideration and started to tell me about Lucy. She had only been at the shelter for 2 weeks at the time and had recently been spayed. This staff member showed me pictures and told me a little bit about her. As someone who has never personally owned a dog before, I was super nervous. I waited in the meet and greet room to meet Lucy. When I saw her, it was love at first sight. I was able to put her adoption on hold until 2 days later I was able to pick her up. When I picked her up on the day of her adoption, I was told that you guys enjoy getting updates, so here it is.
Ever since then, she has really started to show her true colors. She LOVES to swim, she eats snow like crazy, and she loves to meet new people, four-legged or human. She has recently graduated from a basic manners class and has begun training to be a therapy dog (we take the test on the 19 of December). Lucy enjoys going to doggie daycare and even has a dog best friend named Barbara.
I appreciate all that you guys do and for suggesting such a sweet girl. I couldn't have asked for a better first pup. "

Spike was ready to play this morning! This silly boy and his big brother Kernell are the purrfect pair of cats! Meet Lola, our sweet and curious little bunny! Lola is about 2 yrs old and is hoping she can hop her way into someone's heart...and home! Lola loves and explore her x-pen, is a master at finding the hidden treats in her enrichment rolls, and while she isn't the biggest fan of being picked up, she will happily hop onto your lap and settle in for a nice snuggle. He's learning basic skills and leash manners and is eager to expand his abilities. On days when long walks aren't possible, Rocky enjoys enrichment feeders like frozen Kongs and puzzle feeders, which engage his nose and mind. Using his nose, he has to sniff out all the good treats in the feeder, and then using his brain, he has to figure out how to access the treats! Last week Miss Sally got to enjoy a little offsite adventure!
