Sunday was World Zoonosis Day!
July 6, 1885, Louis Pasteur and his colleagues administered the first vaccine against the rabies virus.

What is a Zoonotic disease?

Things such as Rabies, Leptospirosis and many internal parasites are Zoonotic. This means they can spread from animal to human, and vise versus. About 60% of all human disease spread from animals.

We love our furry companions so protecting them from Zoonotic diseases will also help protect ourselves. Keeping our pets up to date on certain vaccinations as well as monthly preventatives will play a big part in helping keep our pets healthy from things that may cause us harm.

Follow the tips below to help the prevention of Zoonotic disease.

Welcome, Pearl!

Say hello to Pearl, the sweetest little Havanese who just joined us at Mandak Vet! At just 3.5 pounds, she might be tiny but she’s got and personality that’s huge.

Did you know? Havanese are known for being incredibly friendly, playful, and smart. They’re the only dog breed native to Cuba and were bred to be loyal lapdogs!
