Fitness with Fido was formed by Kimberly's (owner) love for dogs & fitness. I love working out, but I didn't love the time it took away from my dogs, Leah & Oscar. I decided to combine both of my passions together to not only save time, but spend my time with them to maintain health and prevent injuries. There are so many exercises you can do with your dog besides walking or running and I want to

share it with all of you!! “Whether you’re here for yourself or for your dog, whether it’s for weight-loss or a new activity, we hope to meet all your needs and wants. A standing plank saw for your dog is great for their core and extending their spine, and their hip area. Also making it a nice stretch besides core work. The hard part with this one is we're trying to keep all four feet still. So place them in a stand and check their positioning. You can place a hand under their belly right in front of the Quad area to help keep those back legs in place. I have my knee here to try and help keep those front. They naturally will want to move forward, so only move a little bit, even if it doesn't seem like much it will be. It takes time to build the movement. Stillness is hard to teach. So, keep working on it. And just do gradual movements.

Ok this is our First Planksgiving Challenge! 🦃

I've wanted to do this for a few years now and decided how to set it up to try it bingo style!!

So just like bingo you'll need to have 5 in row across, diagonally, down, etc.

You'll also need to video the exercises you've done and post in our Fido Tribe Community group once completed. Each at least 10-30 seconds long to see the exercise, no longer then a minute a piece with the names of the exercises you completed to get bingo!

Anyone who completes the challenge will be entered into winning a $50 Amazon Gift Card 🎁

This challenge will go until the end of November. I'll post more about the exercises as the month goes on, but post any questions you may have here!

This challenge will use equipment of your choice. Stable equipment is easier then unstable equipment. A plank is having your dog's front feet and back feet elevated on a piece of equipment, looking for proper form: nice straight back with back feet stacked slightly past the hips except for those with naturally roached backs.

October 27: Honoring the Spirits of Our Beloved Pets

In some regions of Mexico 🇲🇽, October 27 is a day set aside to honor the spirits of pets that have passed on. This touching tradition has become part of the Día de los Mu***os celebrations, where families welcome back the spirits of their beloved animals who once brought so much joy into their homes.

Though a more modern adaptation, this practice involves creating small ofrendas (altars) dedicated to pets. Families place photos, water, their favorite toys, and food on the altar to guide their spirits back for a visit. It’s a beautiful extension of the Día de los Mu***os customs, which traditionally honor human loved ones on November 1 and 2. Now, pets have their special day too!

🕯️ How to Honor Your Pet on October 27:

Create a simple altar: Set up a small ofrenda in your home. Place a photo of your pet, their favorite toy, and a bowl of water to welcome their spirit back. Marigolds (cempasúchil), often used in Día de los Mu***os celebrations, are believed to guide spirits home with their vibrant color and scent, so incorporating them can symbolize your pet’s safe return.

Light a candle: Use a candle to represent the light that will guide your pet’s spirit home. Sit in silence to reflect on your memories with them, and you may wish to say this small prayer:

“(Pet’s name), as we light this candle, we invite your spirit to join us once more. You brought light, love, and laughter into our lives, and though your body has gone, your presence remains in our hearts. May this flame guide you home, and may the warmth of our love surround you always. We offer these gifts as symbols of the joy you gave us and the bond we will never lose. Rest peacefully, dear one, until we meet again in the place where all souls reunite.”

Leave their favorite treat: Just as food is left for human spirits during Día de los Mu***os, leave your pet’s favorite treat or snack on the altar, placing it near the water and toy.

(Optional) Take a walk: If your pet enjoyed walks, consider taking a short walk in their memory. This simple act can help you feel connected to your pet’s spirit as you remember the times you shared together.

🥀 The Día de los Mu***os season includes several days dedicated to different souls, and October 27 is a special day to honor our pets. Whether you’ve lost a dog, cat, or another cherished companion, this is a wonderful time to reflect on the joy they brought into your life and keep their memory alive 🌹

Simple Steps for a Safe, Stress-Free Halloween 🎃 🎃🎃🎃🎃

Before the activities begin.

Exercise your pup to tire them out before trick or treating 👻

Keep Candy Out of Reach 🍬 🍫
Chocolate, sugar-free gum, and other Halloween treats can be toxic to dogs. Make sure all candy is kept out of your dog’s reach, and be mindful of wrappers that can pose a choking hazard.

Choose Pet-Friendly Costumes 👻
If you plan to dress up your dog, ensure the costume is comfortable, doesn’t restrict movement, and allows your dog to see, breathe, and bark normally. Avoid costumes with small, chewable parts. And if your dog doesn't like costumes, opt for a spooky-themed bandana instead.

Make a Safe Space
Create a calm, quiet area for your dog away from the front door. The constant ringing of the doorbell and influx of strangers can be stressful.

Be Cautious with Decorations 🎃🎃🎃🎃
Keep your dog away from decorations that could be hazardous, such as candles in jack-o’-lanterns, which can easily be knocked over. Also, watch out for electrical cords and decorations that could be mistaken for toys.

Identification is Key🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾
Ensure your dog is wearing a collar with ID tags and is microchipped, just in case they do manage to escape.

Watch for Stress Signals
If your dog seems anxious or stressed, it might be best to keep them in a quiet room with some calming music playing until the excitement dies down.

By following these simple tips, you can ensure that both you and your dog have a safe and enjoyable Halloween.

Are you ready to for the Hike with Ike - 30 Miles in 30 Days Challenge to bring awareness to Responsible Dog Ownership & Animal Pain Awareness Month? If Ike can do it, so can we!

Who is Ike? Ike came into Fitness with Fido's lives 5 years ago from Speak Rescue & Sanctuary weighing over double his body weight!! He's come a long way in the years since he started his weight loss journey! He has become a bit of an inspiration to educate pet owners each year on being more responsible by inspiring them with something as simple as walking.

How do we enter?

Join us all October long, walk with your dog, bring awareness to pet obesity prevention, raise money for rescue dogs and win prizes!!🎁

There's 2 ways to participate, use one or both:
1) Use the WoofTrax - Walk for a Dog App on your phone each time you walk your dog to raise money to support Speak Rescue and Sanctuary where Ike came from or the rescue of your choice, then look for the Hike with Ike Community Group!

Another option is fostering, foster parents are also needed at many rescues. Otherwise keep being the best dog parent taking the best care you can of your current pets furever!

Happy Thanksgiving from our Fido Tribe 🦃🐾💕

Here's some plank Variations apart of our current Planksgiving Bingo Challenge 🦃 Bailey is demonstrating a plank 360 around the world walk around to a stand behind your dog plank to a stand behind your dog backwards plank for a little more challenge for their stay and you!! Happy Halloween 🎃 We celebrated our Halloween party with our favorite part, the Dog's Trick or Treating! 🐾 We love this of course because they get a basket full of goodies, but it's also working on multiple things like waiting patiently, sharing and receiving. Receiving is often harder than sharing for them as they become protective of their basket as it fills up! This year one of the items was Hank & Roy All-Natural Pet Chews pig ears 🐷 What I like about these is that they are easily digestible and individually wrapped for freshness! They kept Felix busy for about 30 minutes and Ike busy for 10 minutes, helping keep their teeth and gums healthy! 😀 Hope everyone has a safe and happy Halloween. So last week I asked what shape you think of with this exercise, but now I added equipment. Do you still think of the same shape? Are you thinking of the u-turn with the back and forth motion? ↪️ Or are you thinking of a rainbow where layers keep getting added? 🌈 Or are you thinking of an Arch? You know since we're from St. Louis! ⚾ Let me know in the comments because they're are so many different variations and progressions you can do with this one to work your dog's mind and body 🐾

Help me name this exercise or what shape you think of? A rainbow, arch or u turn?? Or is it something else. I normally think of a u turn, but today I thought it might be more of a rainbow shape 🌈 Share your thoughts ⬇️

With a new puppy comes a lot more messes! 😆 Believe it or not he got a bath last week! He loves being outdoors, which is great, but just doesn't stay clean for long 😴 So we're trying these in between baths pet grooming wipes from @injoya_pets so he doesn't have to get a bath everyday 🫧 You can see the glove not looking as white as when it started and I flipped it over to get the most usage. Of course it doesn't help that I made him a dig pit, but it's worth it since he's having fun puppyhood 🐾
