Today marks 18 years since I found myself at detox and, little to my understanding at the time, beginning of a new path, one that has led me here — to a life of feeling deeply, connecting genuinely, and guiding others with compassion. Recovery has been a journey of hard work and growth, and just like any journey toward healing, I’ve learned to take it one step at a time. Each day, I’m reminded of the incredible people who stood by me — I wouldn’t be here without them. And now, I’m so grateful for the amazing support from those who follow me and allow to thrive. Thank you all deeply!
There’s a beautiful parallel between finding a new way of life in recovery and the process of behavior modification in reactive or fearful dogs. Watching a dog learn to feel safe, navigate the world with confidence, or trust again is a testament to resilience. Just as I needed/need support and patience to discover myself, dogs on the road to healing need understanding, small wins, and advocates who believe in their potential.
When we lean into trust and give grace to ourselves and our dogs, we foster the growth that transforms lives. Recovery, whether human or canine, isn’t linear. It’s a commitment to keep showing up, embracing the little victories, and growing with each new day.
Today, we want to celebrate you, too! Please share your journey or your dog’s journey with us in the comments below — we’d love to honor every step of it with you!
