Bringing home a dog this holiday?
Be sure to check out the things you need to know before adopting or purchasing that puppy or dog this holiday season!
What does it mean when packmates and in this case, one littermate licks and grooms another this way? That’s a sign of respect.
Online client doing the inverted longe line training with her dog who can be reactive towards other dogs and lunge. In this video, you see the inverted longe line training. The two main objectives in this precursor to the regular longe line training is that the dog knows to stay on the left side of handler plus to keep within that 5 feet safety bubble. There was a distraction on the left side of this video (an unfamiliar dog) but Luna, the dog you see on here made the decision to stay close to her handler instead. It’s the safest and most comfortable position. If Luna lunged, her handler would make a 180 degree turn to the right resulting in Luna experiencing some discomfort from the correction. To stay within the safety bubble is a conscious effort that Luna is making. This training makes for a thinking dog! Not one that just acts on its impulse! #reactivedogtraining #successpawsclub #fromfearfulfidotoconfidentcanine #anxiousdogs #fearfuldogs #politepups #confidentdogs #reactivedogs #longelinetrainingfordogs #trainyourdog #onlinedogtraining #onlinedogtrainingworks

Baby Bird Rescue!
No idea why my Live was all static like but I wanted to share a video of what we did tonight with the baby bird who fell onto our front stoop out of its nest that was in our eaves (we cannot climb up that high to put it back in its best)…we brought this injured baby bird to Frisky's Wildlife & Primate Sanctuary and Colleen and team will take care of it then release it back in the wild once it’s ok!
Tools matter!
This is a clear example of how a simple change of tools helped transform unbearable stressful walks to ones that are so much more manageable.
From a Gentle Leader Head Halter to a slip chain collar, Java understands leash pressure and what that means. He understands the OUT! command and knows to avoid gazing at other dogs' eyes and to look at his Mom during walks when they do approach oncoming dogs as well as other dogs in their own yards. Java also will do a Sit/Stay and wait when his Mom asks him to do so. That's a lot of routine every day practice.
Here is Java working on his Down/Stay with Pippin as a distraction.
Java has been an amazing Polite Pups Academy student graduate!
Sunday LIVE Q/A
In today's Live Q/A, we have a guest, Lynne. Lynne will be answering questions and talking about how best to integrate our newly adopted dogs with our resident cats.
Katherine's Video Testimonial on Maya's Transformation
Maya was an extremely fearful pup. She was afraid of all people (adults and humans, and especially men). She was afraid of going outdoors and her environment in the community she lived in.
For about 4 months, Katherine could only take her out of the back door, around the house, and to the front door for her "walk". This changed after formal training! Yes, Maya has now ventured outside of the court they live in and a few weeks ago, she even went hiking on a trail (short hike, but one that was successful).
Maya was an anxious dog that was not food motivated at all. As such, From Fearful Fido to Confident Canine training worked for her because we do not use treats in our training. Our positive reinforcement is using our voice and pets in a timely manner while training!
Tune in to see where Katherine has to say about Maya's transformation through the From Fearful Fido to Confident Canine training.
