Does your dog have a Bestie!? This week, we took advantage of the sunshine and arranged for morning walkies with Garrett and his BFF, Tato!🐶❤️🐾

While dog parks can be fun for some dogs, nothing beats a playdate with a bestie! 🤗 Here’s why:

1. **Less Stress**: Dog parks can be overwhelming and scary for many dogs! With a play date or small play group, your pup can opt in and out of play and practice their social skills without worrying about impolite play or unsupervised dogs.

Hazel is so smart…and full of beans!!😂Taking a couple of enrichment breaks during our sessions helps her focus, and going between active learning and enrichment helps her process. What a good girl!!🤓❤️

Goodest boy, Simon, has been coming to our Dog’s Day Out class! We meet at different locations weekly to practice skills at all levels. He absolutely crushed his practice session at Home Depot! 😎This may look like no big deal, but a lot of hard work goes into helping Simon feel confident in unfamiliar spaces, especially busy/noisy spaces! Great work Simon and Mom, so proud of you!!🤩❤️

Happy New Year!! We still have room in the following classes at Howl Hampden, shoot us a message if you’d like to join us!

*Puppy Fundamentals 1 - MONDAY EVENINGS at 7:30, start date 1/6: Foundation skills, relationship building, and socialization for pups up to 5 months. You’ll learn the basics of positive reinforcement training and apply it to positional cues (sit, down, place) and other skills such as loose leash walking, polite greetings, wait/stay, and recall to put you pups best paw forward with good manners and a love of learning!

*Puppy FUNdamentals 2 - TUESDAY EVENINGS at 7:30, start date 1/7: In PF2, we’ll work on generalizing skills learned in PF1, increasing distance, duration, and distraction. We’ll also learn to use foundation skills to build new behaviors and apply them to daily problem solving.

*Empower Your Pup! - THURSDAY EVENINGS at 7:30, beginning 1/16: This class is terrific for shy or fearful dogs, or dogs that missed out on the prime socialization period. Learn to recognize your dog's feelings, encourage new behaviors, and make new experiences positive! Build your pup's confidence through games and activities designed to help dogs of all ages and sizes greet the world with curiosity and self assurance.

*Dog’s Day Out, Saturdays at 2:00pm, beginning 1/11: Join us as we head out about town to practice skills in new environments. While this class is great for CGC and CGC Advanced prep, we also recommend it for adolescents that might need a ‘refresher’. Our focus is helping our dogs generalize foundation skills, feel comfortable in public settings, and gain exposure to new sights and sounds. Your dog should have been introduced to and practiced the following: sit, down, place, loose leash walking. Class meets between 4 locations within a 5 mile radius of HOWL.
