Bruce wants you to know that he’s trying his very best to be the goodest Newfie boy he can be! Today he learned a fun way to practice recall with his family, without accidentally bulldozing his tiny humans. I think everyone in his house under 3’ tall will sleep very good tonight, including Bruce!

*Puppy Fundamentals - foundation skills, relationship building, and socialization for pups up to 5 months. Starts Mondays 8/26
*Empower Your Pup! - Boost your pup's confidence through this games and activity based class designed to help dogs of all ages and sizes greet the world with curiosity and self assurance. Starts Saturdays 9/7
*CGC Prep - Learn and practice the skills required to achieve the Canine Good Citizen Certification. Registration includes evaluation by certified AKC evaluator, Hannah Sigel of Baltimore K9 Tutors.
*Reactive to Resilient - Learn to understand your dogs ‘big feelings’ and support them with active management strategies, handling skills, and positive reinforcement while creating new and positive associations with their environment and increasing their confidence, and resiliency

Huge congratulations to our Puppy FUNdamentals 2 graduates! Phebe, Wilbur, Taco, and their humans grew in skills and teamwork! So fun to watch these pups learn and grow. We had some fun tonight investigating new things with curiosity and confidence. Many thanks to their pawrents for spending another 6 weeks learning with us! (Taco wasn’t able to attend tonight, graduation picture forthcoming!)
And special thanks to Howl for sharing their space so we can offer classes to our neighbors in Hampden! Stay tuned for new classes beginning soon!
Our Puppy FUNdamentals 2 class met at Roosevelt Park tonight to practice leash skills! If you’re thinking one of these puppies is not like the others, that’s my Garrett! He loves puppies and came out of retirement to help out with class tonight.❤️

I strive to make sure the dogs in my care are as comfortable as possible during their time in my salon. I allow dogs to sit or lay down as long as possible during their groom to minimize stress on their body and mind 🪷
Here is a short list of some of my stress reducing techniques ⬇️
🪷 No crating EVER
🪷 1-on-1 individualized attention
🪷 Decompression Session - I allow the dog as much time as they need to sniff around the salon as I feed them treats before we start grooming
🪷 I only proceed if your pet is willing - My goal is not to "get the job done" but rather that your dog has a safe and pleasant experience in my salon

So important to understand that behavior is a choice made at any given time based on what works, what pays, or makes your dog feel safe. Sound familiar? Yep, reinforcement drives behavior in us too! And it's happening all the time. Extend this understanding to your dog and reach out for help if you're struggling with unwanted behaviors.👍🏼

Look at these good boys! Stevie (right) is our dog of the day! And a special shout out to my Garrett for being a friend to all, big and small. Stevie arrived at his new home a bit unsure of the world around him, we’ve been working on building confidence and expanding his comfort zone at his pace. His human is doing an amazing job learning how to understand his feelings and support him in learning the world is an okay place! Today he was able to follow Garrett at a distance that felt safe to him, sniff Garrett’s path, and gradually work up to parallel walking. Garrett is very gentle and doesn’t mind another dog having a sniff, by the end of our session these two were resting peacefully together and sharing snacks. Great work Team Stevie!!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼❤️

Believe it or don’t, not all dogs love a car rides! For many reasons, one ‘big’ reason being a difficult entry combined with a lack spatial awareness, many dogs are reluctant to get in the car. After a couple weeks of working on new skills and rear end awareness, lots of practice and patience, Theo chose to give the car a chance. So proud of Theo and his Mom, no doubt he’s on the way to amazing things! Lisa, the sky's the limit sweet Theo!❤️

Rosey is our dog of the day! Her foster Mom is doing an amazing job teaching her foundation skills and working on leash reactivity. Today we took our show on the road and practiced pattern games at the park! (video in comments)😊She's being fostered through Adopt a Homeless Animal Rescue Inc❤️
