When it doesn’t go as planned!
We are so proud of this team here! Dasie and Archie took our Intro to OB class and let me tell you, it did not start out as expected.
Archie was not fond of being in a strange place with strange people. So much so, that his first session featured him sitting in one spot, practically under her feet, in pure fear of moving away from her. Given that we couldn’t even get him to interact or even take food, we did not get to do the class program as planned. But did we quit? ABSOLUTELY NOT!
We tailored classes to best suit Archie’s need and to provide him and Dasie with the best chance of gaining something positive by the end of the sessions. We spent majority of the time building his trust and confidence instead of teaching him basic commands.
Fast forward to our last session, and you would not believe who he is today! He has come out of his shell, is following Dasie’s leadership, taking food and treats as a reward, and even giving us love in the process!
To some, this may not be moving or something to be excited about. But for us, Dasie, and Archie, this was moving mountains. The reward for us is providing a positive change in each of our clients and dogs lives through our training, EVEN IF it’s not what or how we planned.
We can’t wait to continue working with Archie and building on his process and success! Great job guys!
