For our Friendship Vet users , new location as of 1/16......

FRIENDSHIP'S EMERGENCY & SPECIALTY DEPARTMENTS TO MOVE JANUARY 16, 2025

Our NEW Emergency & Specialty Center located at 5025 Wisconsin Ave NW to open January 16, 2025 at 8am.

On January 16, 2025, at 8am our 24-hour Emergency and Critical Care Department, as well as most of our Specialty Departments, will begin operating EXCLUSIVELY out of our new 30,000 sq. ft. Emergency and Specialty Center located at 5025 Wisconsin Ave NW, Washington, DC. The new facility is only 0.5 miles away from our Brandywine location which will continue to be the home of our Primary Care, Behavior, and Rehabilitation departments.

The building expansion changes the physical location of our ER and Specialty departments but does not affect our medical care. Both locations will continue to work together providing the trusted comprehensive veterinary care for which we are known. The phone number to our call center servicing both locations will remain (202) 363-7300 and our medical records, referral processes, and email systems will all remain integrated.

Our Emergency and Specialty Center has a parking garage located off Garrison Street NW with elevator service from the garage as well as on street, metered parking (please follow parking restrictions as designated by the city’s parking enforcement).

For the most up to date information, please visit our website at

COMING JANUARY 16, 2025, A SECOND LOCATION! It’s official! Friendship’s Emergency and Specialty Center is coming (real) soon! Stay tuned for opening information. If you’ve been “to the back” of Friendship’s Brandywine location in the past couple years, you may have noticed more than just...

🔷 Public Safety Issues Animal Safety Alert Due to Severe Cold Weather 🔷

In light of severe cold temperatures forecasted in Calvert County, the Department of Public Safety has issued an animal safety alert for Friday, Jan. 3, through Friday, Jan. 10. During this period, animal owners or custodians are required to provide the following actions to protect their pets and livestock:

• Dogs and cats should be brought inside. If a dog or cat is left outside, they must have free access to a solid structure that is heated or is set against the prevailing winds and allows the dog or cat to maintain their core body temperature.

• Livestock and farm animals should have free access to protection from the weather that allows animals to maintain their core body temperature.

• Livestock and farm owners should provide access to additional food to allow animals to recover from the loss of additional calories.

• All animals outdoors must be continually monitored for signs of distress.

• All animals must have access to clean, unfrozen water at all times.

Failure to comply with these safety measures may result in penalties, including fines up to $1,000 or 30 days in jail.
To report concerns, citizens may contact the Animal Control Division at 410-535-1600, ext. 2526, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. After hours, concerns may be reported to the non-emergency line at 410-535-3491.

Update : Lilith has been found and is safe ❤️

We are working with a trapper to help secure Lilith in WOODBRIDGE. Please DO NOT CHASE her. Tell anyone you see not to chase her, this is doing more harm than good. The most important thing is reporting sightings immediately to Samantha (703) 489-4039 and details: was she running walking, was leash attached, was she injured etc

Lost dog , see post and please share to help with sightings.

Helping you find your next Best Friend

We are a group of German Shepherd lovers with a mission to save German Shepherds and German Shepherd mixes who are homeless and/or at risk in shelters. We take these wonderful dogs into our homes, obtain whatever vetting is needed and give them love and structure while we search for a permanent home for them.

One of our other missions is to educate the public on the benefits of spay/neuter, training your pet to be a canine good citizen and other dog related topics. We also work with individuals who have German Shepherds to help keep them in their homes.

We hope by our efforts to reduce the staggering number of perfectly adoptable dogs euthanized in shelters every day . We truly believe one day we will have a 99% live release rate from shelters .

We are an all volunteer organization, recognized as 501c3 charity by the IRS .
