Tomorrow, Friday, January 19th will be Sarah’s last day as General Manager of Sobo Doggie Daycare & Spa. Sarah has decided to take some time to focus on other interests both personally and professionally, such as baking, music, and horseback riding. We wish Sarah and her Rottweiler Kima the very best! You can follow their adventures at .the.rottie on Instagram.

In the meantime, Taylor (pictured) will be taking over as the new General Manager of Sobo, and so far in her training she hasn’t skipped a beat!

Here’s a little about Taylor:
Taylor has two dogs: a two year old Rottweiler named Jackson and a 9 month old Belgian Malinois named Loca. She does protection work with her Malinois and has extensive experience with dog behavior and training. She is extremely excited to take on this new role and help create a fun, safe, and inviting space for all who attend SoBo Doggie Daycare. Cheers to new beginnings!

We are completely heartbroken in the aftermath of Skylar’s passing this week. We are in sorrow as we grieve the loss of one of our favorite, employee-owned, behind-the-desk-morning-greeter dogs who always lit up the lobby and customers passing through.

Alex had Skylar since she was 3 months old and has even raised her puppies, who now live with family and friends. Skylar helped Alex through difficult times of her life and was always one to curl up at the end of the bed and keep her comfortable.

We will miss Skylar terribly and we wish Alex and her family the best as we grieve her loss.

Bobi, the oldest dog ever recorded, according to Guinness World Records, just celebrated his 31st birthday in Portugal.

Owner Leonel Costa said that Bobi had a ‘very traditional’ Portuguese party on Saturday with ‘more than 100 people’ in attendance, the AP reported. Guests were treated to local meats and fish, as was Bobi, who exclusively eats human food. A dance troupe also performed, and Bobi was included in one of its routines, according to the AP.

Born on May 11, 1992, Bobi is a purebred Rafeiro do Alentejo, a breed that typically has a life expectancy of 12 to 14, according to Guinness World Records. Costa attributes his long life to the ‘calm, peaceful environment’ that Bobi was raised in. According to Costa, Bobi was never chained up or put on a leash and instead was allowed to wander around the forest near the Costa family’s house.

‘Bobi has been a warrior for all these years; only he knows how he's been holding on, it must not be easy because the average dog's lifespan is not that high, and if he spoke, only he could explain this success,’ Costa said in a statement in February, when Bobi was named the world's oldest dog.

In his old age, Bobi is facing deteriorating eyesight and his mobility has decreased, but Costa confirmed that otherwise, he is in good health.
