Charlie showing off his new doodle do 🫧🐕❤️.

Charlie is a Golden-doodle on a regular 6-8 week grooming schedule. Doodles are very prone to matting. Which can be a very dangerous condition if left untreated.

🐕 Matting is a hair condition that occurs when your dog’s fur gets tangled around itself and becomes tightly knotted. Skin irritations like hot spots, bacterial and fungal infections, inflammation, and rashes can be caused by matted hair that is left untreated. 🐶

🐕 THE GOOD NEWS: YOU CAN PREVENT MATTING!

You guessed it: Regular brushing and grooming is the only way to prevent your dog’s fur from matting. Our mission at Happy Dog is to help our fur clients get on a regular grooming schedule that proactively keeps their skin & coats healthy. 🐕🙌✨❤️

Why I love and wish everyone knew about the power of Turkey Tail mushrooms for dogs with cancer!

One of the main reasons I love Turkey Tail Mushrooms for dogs so much is because of its anti-cancer power. I became very accustomed to cancer while caring for my best friend in the whole world, Shea. ❤️🐕❤️

Shea was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma (HSA) of the spleen May 4th 2023. He was 14 1/2 years old at the time. HSA is a devastating and VERY aggressive form of cancer that affects many dogs. We were told we had about 4-8 weeks left with Shea and after a lot of research we learned that most dogs with this diagnosis leave us within 4-6 months. 😭

I wasn’t able to accept this terrible news so, I went to work to find out what I could do to help his immune system fight this cancer and keep it from spreading.

I learned about the health benefits of a whole raw diet - specifically a keto diet. When dogs are fed high-fat, adequate-protein diets (Keto), they are put in the best position to fight disease and starve cancer cells that feed off of glucose. Then I started looking at natural supplements that could also help. I knew mushrooms were touted for their powerful immune boosting benefits so I dug in deeper to learn about cancer and mushroom treatment which lead me to the Turkey Tail Mushroom. The polysaccharides (beta-glucans) in turkey tail mushrooms, strengthen the immune system to fight cancer. Turkey Tail has been studied for years by many of the most renowned cancer institutes and researchers in the world showing amazing results.

Turkey Tail is not a cure on its own but it has proven to be an extremely beneficial addition to a cancer treatment protocol.

I am so amazed that a year later, Shea is still with us and thriving. He has a beautiful, happy quality of life at 15 1/2 years old. 🙏❤️🐕

✨Other than its cancer-fighting abilities, Turkey Tail is also a wonderful gut health supplement. It’s also loaded with beneficial phytonutrients, which will support your dogs health and vitality overall!

🦷 You brush your teeth every day. Brushing twice a day helps you avoid tooth decay, loss, and gum disease. The importance of dental cleanings for dogs is just as severe, too!

Here are seven reasons you need to consider dental care for dogs:

1. Prevent Tooth Loss

Over time, the structures that support your dog’s teeth can become damaged or infected. Severe, prolonged damage can cause their teeth to loosen or even fall out.

2. Prevent Bad Breath

Do you ever get a yucky whiff of your dog’s bad breath after a slobbery kiss? That’s a sign that bacteria are building up due to poor dental care for dogs.

Cleaning your dog’s teeth regularly can help prevent that odor from developing. Otherwise, the food particles that cling to their teeth and gums will form into plaque.

3. Avoid Periodontal Disease

When tartar is left on your dog’s teeth, it can cause inflammation and gum infection. The gums may begin to recede from the teeth, leaving the teeth and gums more vulnerable. This can lead to gingivitis, which can cause your dog to lose their teeth.

4. Prevent Pain

Gingivitis and periodontal disease can both cause pain. Imagine the last time you had a toothache. Would you want your dog to experience the same issues?

Dental disease can become painful for dogs and humans alike. By keeping your dog’s teeth and gums healthy, you can prevent oral pain.

5. Prevent Organ Damage

The bacteria that causes plaque to form can enter the bloodstream. Once it travels through the body, that bacteria can spread to the heart, liver, and kidneys. This process is called bacteremia.

6. Dogs are Good at Hiding Dental Pain

You might not realize your dog has a serious dental problem until it becomes more advanced. In fact, many dogs are good at hiding their pain.

Taking your dog in for regular checkups will confirm they’re a healthy mouth dog. If there’s a problem, you can catch it early on.

7. Regular Cleanings Now Will Save Money in the Future

Catching those dental health issues early on will help you prevent big problems in the future. Anesthesia- Free dental cleaning is a safe and affordable way to avoid bigger problems in the future.

Meet puppy Tia!!! Tia’s parents brought her in for her first grooming appointment to start a positive association with the grooming process. 🙌🫧🐕

Early grooming helps puppies get used to being handled, touched, and examined. This is crucial for veterinary visits, as well as any grooming procedures they may need throughout their life.

Most puppies are used to being petted, held, and snuggled by the time they’re ready to go to their forever homes. However, this doesn’t mean they’re fine with being touched everywhere. In order for a dog groomer to do the best job possible, a dog needs to be at least somewhat cooperative.

And if your dog isn’t conditioned to having their face, nails, tail, and paws handled, it can lead to problems down the line. It will also get them used to loud noises. After all, desensitizing your dog to the groomer in their first few months of life is much easier than doing it at an older age. Even something as simple as having a dog’s nails trimmed can be more difficult if you do not get them used to it earlier in life.

Prevent Anxiety ☺️🐕 Regular puppy grooming sessions from a younger age can prevent the development of fear or anxiety associated with grooming activities. This helps in creating a positive association with grooming tools and processes. The grooming process and experience from the first groom to a full groom can be stressful for both you and your dog, but they don’t have to be.

Our first grooming appointment with a puppy is always just a bath so they can get used to the process and feel comfortable when they come back shortly after for a full groom. Then they are feeling confident for their future spa days 🫧🐕❤️
