We never thought that we were going to be able to take him off of the hoarding property. But we did🥹

Toby‘s next adventure is in Washington State and he gets to basically live on a beach. This boy is so full of life and it took many of us to get him ready for his next steps , to a brighter future.

Tomorrow is Bandit’s big day. 🙏🏼

He’ll be undergoing back surgery at Bluepearl Veterinary Partners San Antonio, TX , and we’re praying everything goes smoothly. The next few months will require strict rest and limited movement, so after careful consideration, our team and his foster decided that the best place for his recovery is Pup Pup and Away. Bandit absolutely loves it there, and since his foster also works at PPA, we know he’ll be in great hands. More than anything, we hope this surgery brings him relief from his pain.

We want to extend a huge thank you to Stephanie Garza and the entire team at Pup Pup and Away. Stephanie has fostered over 10 dogs for Bandera Dogs Rescue Mission, proof that rescue work is never about “I” or “me.” It’s always we who make it possible.

For a small nonprofit, we have a big heart, and we are so grateful for the support we’ve received. Thanks to our amazing community, we’ve covered both of Bandit’s consults ($1,700) and raised $3,000 toward his surgery. We’re still in need of donations to fully cover the cost, and every little bit helps.

Sweet Ms. Candy may not have made it as a service dog at Warriors Heart, she’s still a 💯 good girl!

Candy is as lovely as her name, fully vetted, 4DX negative, healthy, spayed, and microchipped. She’s ready to meet her forever person or family.

This isn’t an emergency, Candy is safe at Pup Pup and Away but she still deserves the stability and love of a forever home.

Please share her story. Finding Candy a home not only changes her life, but also opens up a spot for another pup in need and allows us to shift resources toward saving the next life.

Rescue doesn’t end with pulling them to safety. It takes commitment, compassion, and community

For the past 17 months, the Bandera Dogs Rescue Mission has been working tirelessly to address a critical hoarding situation involving over 90 dogs and Rosie the Donkey. 🫏

🌾🫚Through the dedication of our grass roots team of private individuals, we’ve successfully rescued and rehomed 97 dogs and Rosie the donkey, giving them a second chance at life in loving forever homes. But our work isn’t finished yet, we still have a few more dogs to get off the property and have 6 currently in our care. Your support is crucial.

🧾Our journey so far has required tremendous resources, over $40,000 spent on veterinary care, monthly care, food, and other essential needs. To complete our mission we’re hosting an online Auction from July 19th-26th, and we need your help to make it a success.

Angel’s Journey 🐾 10 Months and Counting

Angel has been in our care since August 2024. She spent a few wonderful months with a foster, where she did great alongside both her foster and the resident dog.

In early October, we made the decision to move Angel to Pup Pup and Away due to her high prey drive and the number of community cats that would wander into her foster’s yard. It was the safest and most compassionate choice for everyone.

Thankfully, Angel has thrived at PPA. She’s well-loved by the staff, gets glowing report cards, and plays wonderfully with all the dogs in group care. Her only challenge? She takes time to warm up to new people. But once she trusts you, she’s a total lovebug affectionate, playful, and always ready for hugs and kisses.

Despite how well she’s doing in boarding, we know Angel truly deserves a home, a place where she can continue to grow and feel safe, surrounded by love and patience. Her future family will need to give her time to settle in, but it will be worth every second.

Moving Angel into a home won’t just change her life, it also opens up a spot at PPA for another dog in need.

Angel is young and healthy, but caring for her over the past 10 months has still come with costs: preventatives, food, and now, her upcoming vaccinations and 4DX test. Her care has totaled about $1,270, funds we could be using to help the next dog waiting for a second chance.

Sweet Bandit

One of our most loving (and yes, most expensive) rescues, still has his much-needed back surgery scheduled for June 26th. Unfortunately, he recently developed a urinary tract infection and is now on antibiotics as we work to keep him stable and comfortable leading up to surgery.

The cost of his care continues to grow, and we’re still in need of donations to help cover the $10,000 estimated surgery and ongoing medical expenses.

We’ve come this far for Bandit because he deserves a real chance at a pain-free, happy life, and we’re not giving up. If you’re able to contribute, every bit helps. Thank you for standing with Bandit. 💙
