🎸 Every rose has its thorn... and some things have poison! 🐾

It’s National Poison Prevention Week, and while the band Poison rocked the ‘80s, real poisoning is a serious risk for pets. Many everyday items can be toxic to your furry friends, so stay alert!

🐾 Top Pet Poisons to Watch Out For:
❌ Chocolate, grapes, and xylitol (found in sugar-free gum and peanut butter)
❌ Household cleaners and antifreeze
❌ Human medications like ibuprofen and acetaminophen
❌ Toxic plants like lilies (for cats), and sago palms (for dogs), and poinsettias

If you suspect your pet has ingested something harmful, don’t wait! Call the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center at (888) 426-4435 📞 (available 24/7). There is a consultation fee for this service, as pet poison control isn't subsidized by the government. This service is the best way to find out if what your pet has gotten in to is toxic, and the smart people at the hotline will then give our veterinary team a plan for how to best help your pet survive.

Welcome to Meet the Team Tuesday!

We’re kicking off a new tradition - regular team updates, where we introduce the amazing people behind the scenes. For our first victim (oops, we mean team member), we chose Allie!

Meet Allie!

Allie grew up on a farm in The County, where her love for animals began. She joined Broadway in the fall of 2021 as a baby Veterinary Assistant and has since soared to incredible heights - literally and figuratively! Last year, she graduated valedictorian of her college class and is now a licensed Veterinary Technician. Smart and hardworking? Absolutely.

But Allie isn’t just about animals - she’s an adrenaline ju**ie with a passion for fitness. She’s currently training for a marathon and has already conquered Katahdin a couple of times. This year, she’s setting her sights on the Knife’s Edge. And as a true County kid, she has a deep appreciation for potatoes - because really, who doesn’t?
