I like all my horses to be comfy with this. But it’s especially good for horses that will brace through a transition. We want our transitions to be light and fluid. Not grabby and brace-y.
I talked with a student yesterday about how sometimes we have to worry less about what the horse is doing with their body and pay more attention to what we are doing with our own.

A glimpse into our morning of summer camp!
Today we brought horses in from their fields, campers fed their “care horses”, we did morning stretches, groomed horses, tacked up, riding lessons, lunch break, tie dyed t shirts, took care of their care horses needs (clean stall, fresh water, plenty of hay, and of course hugs 🥰)!
It’s safe to say they left with tired smiles today!

We’re a big supporter of taking the time to read your horse’s body language. Some hints are subtle, and some not so much.
Double D gets colder more quickly than some horses and has a condition where the cold can make him feel uncomfortable. He gets heavily blanketed in the winter months. But sometimes he asks for more!
