Big upgrades in the shop for 2025 to boost efficiency! I’ve added two new tanning tanks, each capable of handling 15-20 capes at a time. I also had a custom mounting stand built that can hold up to eight deer in various stages of the mounting process. With dozens of steps involved in prepping, mounting, and finishing each piece, these additions will help speed up turnaround times while maintaining quality. I’ll have some 2024 deer capes going into the tanks this week—stay tuned!

The boys and I love talking about hunting, fishing, the outdoors, and everything in between. I always try to seize every opportunity as a chance to teach and learn, helping them understand and appreciate what it truly takes to do what we do, why we do it, and how we can learn from these experiences to become better individuals.

During last week’s youth hunt, we talked about countless life lessons related to the outdoors. I told him it’s easy to appreciate hard work when it leads to immediate gratification. Little does Jack know that the most important lesson is yet to come.

After we filled the freezer, we discussed how he wanted to remember this hunt. Jack said, “Dad, I kinda like those shoulder mounts you do—not just the skulls.” I replied, “Sounds great, buddy, but they’re not cheap.”

So, if you see Jack out in the sun or rain next summer, push-mowing the lawn and weed-whacking the ditches, know that he’s just paying his dues and holding himself accountable for the choice he made 6 months prior.🤣
