PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD – If your pet care professional isn't talking about; Choice, Communication, Compassion, Consent, Emotions, Empathy, Partnership, Respect, and Trust; you NEED a NEW pet care professional. Before training a dog, you must have a relationship based on compassion, empathy, and respect. To achieve that, you must be able to understand your dog's needs, emotions, and how they communicate. Having the ability to make choices and to give consent is essential to the mental health of every living thing. We can develop a lifelong partnership with our dog only after we understand all these things.

I joined Don in a dream last night. We were wandering through some sort of Theme Park. At times, I was on a leash; other times, Don was carrying me. We were both very happy and having a nice time.

Don Hanson's Facebook friend, Telani Lasoleille, recently asked him, "What's your dog's theme song. I knew Don thought Stevie Wonder’s "You Are The Sunshine of My Life" described our relationship, but I whispered down from The Rainbow Bridge, "Don, you know it's "Walking on Sunshine" by Katrina & The Waves, it's got a beat we can dance to! ~ Muppy

Muppy Has Crossed the Rainbow Bridge – There is less sunshine in my life. Muppy Hanson was guided across the Rainbow Bridge on Tuesday evening, March 24th, after courageously battling kidney disease and bladder cancer since June of 2025. She was born in Mississippi on August 6, 2011, and joined our family in Bangor, Maine, on May 1, 2013. Muppy will be especially missed by me, my wife, Paula, and her many friends.

It’s my first morning without a physical greeting from Muppy, but I still feel her presence. I am deeply sad, but also relieved she is no longer suffering.

There was no better way to start the morning than by seeing Muppy’s smiling golden face of sunshine and her gentle hop against the side of my left leg as her way of saying, “What a beautiful day!” She was filled with eternal optimism and joy. I am fortunate that she is forever etched in my mind. Although Muppy is no longer here physically, she will forever be my heart dog.
