We would like to take a second to thank our Amazing Veterinary Technicians that work so tirelessly. I would like to give a special thank you to our Registered Techs today though we have many staff who take on the roles of a technician! The techs are the backbone of every clinic and if you happen to stop by this week don’t forget to thank them for all their dedication to making sure your Furbaby always has the best care!🩷

We would like to introduce our newest veterinarian, Dr. Perkins to Barboursville Veterinary Clinic. She will be joining our team next month , splitting her time between us and our sister clinic Kanawha City Veterinary Hospital. Dr Perkins is a 1985 graduate of Auburn School of Veterinary Medicine and has been practicing small animal medicine and surgery in the Kanawha Valley for 39 years. Her passion lies in surgery and critical care for patients in need. She also enjoys being a mother of 2 and is a grandmother to 2 wonderful grand babies. We are very thankful that she will be able to help Dr. Shy with providing our clients and patients the quality of care they deserve. Please join us in welcoming her to our BVC family.

We are open today but there is construction in front of the clinic making it difficult to get on our parking lot. We wanted to let our clients know in advance.

Tips for preventing heat stroke in dogs and cats:

• Making sure your pet always has access to a cool shaded area, both indoors and outside

• Restricting exercise on warm days (dogs should be walked early in the morning or later in the evening to avoid the hottest part of the day)

•Packing a cool water bottle for walks

•Never leaving pets in a car or a hot room

•Ensuring your pet always has drinking water available, adding ice can help keep it cool

•Ensuring your pet is regularly groomed if this is advised for their breed

‼️ Remember, hot pavements can burn paws! If it’s too hot to hold your hand on, it’s too hot for your pet to walk on. ‼️
