Meet Ashly.

Ashly graduated from Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology in Colorado in 2018 before moving to Ohio in 2019. Ashly has been a member of the BVS family for nearly 4 years.

What do we love about Ashly? Ashly shows great compassion to all animals. She’s not just a dog or cat person, she’s an animal person. Ashly always notices the little things needed for each of our patients and goes above and beyond for their comfort and quality of care.

In her free time Ashly enjoys spending time at home with her boyfriend Ryan, her three daughters Kylee, Kaitlyn, Kiera, and her cats.

We are so blessed to have Ashly as part of our team!

Thank you for all you do, Ashly!

Veterinary Technician Appreciation Week is an annual observance that recognizes and honors the contributions and hard work of veterinary technicians in the field of veterinary medicine.

We want to recognize the strong, independent, and brilliant women of Barnesville Veterinary Services. These women completed rigorous programs accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and passed the Veterinary Technician National Exam to become registered veterinary technicians (RVTs).

Here are just a few reasons we love our RVTs:

*** Compassion and Empathy: These women bring strong compassion and empathy to their work. They form strong bonds with their animal patients and the pet owners.

*** Emergency & Critical Care: In emergency situations, these women are often the first responders. They stabilize injured or critically ill animals, administer life-saving treatments, and monitor vital signs working with a veterinarian.

*** Leadership Roles: Our RVTs are mentors for our veterinary assistants and support staff. They are educating, supporting and encouraging the future of veterinary medicine.

*** Advocacy for Animal Welfare: These women advocate for animal welfare both within our clinic and in our community.

I will post pictures and a brief introductions about each of these amazing women throughout this week.

Samantha Hupp, Ashly Brown, and Lindsey Pittman are amazingly strong, independent professionals who play a vital role in the healthcare and well-being of pets at Barnesville Veterinary Services. They exhibit resilience, compassion, leadership, and dedication in their work, making our clinic one of the best veterinary establishments around.

HELP US THANK OUR RVTs THIS WEEK AND ALL YEAR ROUND!

Tomorrows the BIG day! Let’s raise some money for this great cause! 100% of proceeds will be donated to the Rio Fund. Score some great deals and yummy treats for yourself and your four legged family member!

Barnesville Veterinary Services is proud to be able to help pets in need through a program called the "Rio Fund."

The Rio Fund is a donation based fund that was established in 2009 by a client to help other pets and pet parents who are in need. The Rio Fund was founded in memory of Rio, a brave and gentle soul, who unfortunately lost her battle with cancer in 2009.

Rio's mom, who wishes to remain anonymous, wanted to keep her memory alive while also helping other pets in need whose parents may not be able to afford veterinary care. On May 7, 2009, the Rio Fund was established and with the help of donations totalling over $13,000, we have successfully helped more than 130 pets and their families.

In an effort to keep the Rio Fund alive the BVS family is coming together to raise funds. On Saturday, September 23rd, we will be hosting a yard sale at the gazebo. All items are donated for sale by the staff of BVS. Please spread the word and stop out to show your support.

Monetary donations can also be accepted the day of the sale or any day by calling the office at 740-425-2218

Let’s show our support and keep Rio’s memory alive while helping pets in need!

Update: Zig-Zag has found his fur-ever home! He was so charming that one our very own decided to scoop him up! We are excited to be able to get updates as he adapts!

Meet “Zig Zag”!

Zig Zag came to us mid April. He was rescued by a Good Samaritan who found him ill in the middle of the street and unable to walk. Upon his first examination we were worried this was not something we could fix, but we just couldn’t give up on this guy.

Flash forward to two months later and Zig Zag has made a miraculous recovery. He’s walking, interacting with staff, and eating like a champ. Eating is his favorite thing to do.

Now that’s he’s rehabilitated, it’s time to find him a place to call home. If you’re interested in giving Zig Zag a forever home or would like more information about adopting Zig Zag, please call our office.

Don’t let his grumpy face deter you, he’ll be your best friend if you have snacks!

Happy Veterinary Receptionist Week to our amazing Reception team 🎉Every year a week is dedicated to celebrating the veterinary receptionist and all they do.

Sure, they are deserving of daily appreciation, but we love that they get a special week to be in the spotlight because they are rockstars!

Without their help, how would a veterinary hospital function efficiently? ☎️ Who would answer all the phone lines to assist our wonderful clients with appointments and their questions?

💔Who would be at the front lines for the emergencies that come through our doors, and console the clients that are going through some of the toughest moments of their lives when loosing a pet?

🥰 Who would be the last point of contact for our clients during a visit to our hospital to help assist with last minute questions, and help gather anything they might need?

These are just a few of the many important roles of a veterinary receptionist.. so we not only thank them this week, but every single day of the year!

Thank you for all that you do!

Pictured below are our amazing veterinary receptionist, Jennifer Buckio Henthorn, Shannon Winland, Kyla Douglass, and Allie Cook!

Happy Thursday! So close to the weekend!

We wanted to take a moment and make everyone aware that there will be some construction work taking place in our office next week. We anticipate the first few days will be very loud due to flooring being removed from our kennel area.

We still plan to continue with appointments and limited surgical procedures. Due to limited kennel space it will be necessary to reschedule some patients, our office will be reaching out to those affected by this.

We also want to make sure our clients and patients are as comfortable as possible while we work to improve our clinic. If your pet has an appointment or procedure scheduled for next week, and you feel the noise may be too overwhelming for them, please call our office to reschedule.

Thank you for your understanding!

Happy to report Lenny has made it home! Thanks for your help!

We have a special guest at the clinic today. This guy decided to take a stroll to Convenient Food Mart and was picked up by a Good Samaritan. He’s safe and comfy at our office but would love to get back home to his family. If you recognize this fella, give us a call. 740-425-2218.

Hello all,
It has come to our attention that some of our Barnesville Veterinary Services, LLC clients may be getting reminders from Gold Ribbon Veterinary, the new owners of the Woodsfield practice. We apologize for this error and ask you to notify our office and we will help to rectify this. Of course, you may feel free to notify Gold Ribbon Veterinary, at 740-472-0900, if you want to advise them directly.
As part of the purchase agreement, Gold Ribbon Veterinary acquired the client list for those accounts that were set up in our Woodsfield clinic. However, sometimes a client that was set up in Woodsfield might have decided to come to the Barnesville clinic, or vice versa. This is one reason why you might get a reminder from Gold Ribbon Veterinary by mistake. It is not possible to fix this problem at this point, other than each affected client letting us or Gold Ribbon Veterinary know, that it may be corrected on an individual basis.
Again, we apologize for this and ask that you help us make the needed corrections. Thank you for your continued support!

Happy Veterinary Assistant Appreciation Week!🥳🐾

Veterinary assistants play an important role in what is part of a bigger team.

They can be the person taking a history, triaging, discharging, and answering any questions or concerns you may have about your pet. They hold and comfort your pets during procedures such as blood draws, X-rays, ultrasounds, and before and after surgery. They help keep our technicians and doctors safe using proper restraints with aggressive animals and work hard at making sure your pet has the best experience possible.

BVS has 4 amazing veterinary assistants on our team and we love and appreciate all of them. We are thankful for their dedication to our clinic, patients, and clients. We would be lost without them.

Pictured below from left to right is Arianna, Samantha, Leah, and Courtney.
