Happy New Year! We are beyond ecstatic to introduce Dr. Shaina Ball-Douglas to our Beaver Meadow family! We are grateful she chose us to start her next chapter in her career.

Dr. Ball-Douglas is originally from Newburgh, NY and received her B.S. from SUNY College of Environmental Science & Forestry in Syracuse, NY. She spent her undergraduate summers doing wildlife research and volunteering at the Utica Zoo, which developed her love for conservation. After graduation, she worked with a team from Virginia Tech to study shorebirds in Long Island, NY. Dr. Ball-Douglas then attended the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine where she graduated in 2023. She completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Garden State Veterinary Specialists in Eatontown, NJ the following year. She now looks forward to being back in her home state! While she enjoys every aspect of small animal practice, she has a special passion for wildlife species. During her free time, she enjoys baking, gaming, art, and spending time with her cat (Raven) and dog (Kane).

Sandi was taken at 2:30am from John Street in South Trenton this morning while outside going to the bathroom.

A truck was seen passing the property at the time. We are unsure if she was taken as an effort to steal or an act of a Good Samaritan.

This is a staff member’s dog. If you have any information, please get in contact with us on Facebook or call the shelter at (315) 738-4357! Reward included, please share.

Interesting? Does anyone know what this creature is called?

A mysterious creature was spotted on Washington State’s Long Beach Peninsula. It was identified as a ribbon seal. This type of seal is probably the most stylish one on the planet, and it is so rare to see that the last time it was spotted in the region was a long time ago.
