We started our journey as just a regular hedgehog pet owner and loved our Quill Kids so much that we wanted to spread the joy to other people by breeding beautiful, healthy babies for you to take home! How our process works:
**NO HEDGEHOG WILL BE HELD WITH OUT DEPOSIT**
***There will be a 75.00 Charge for all Meet and Greets, We also require a current drivers license at the time time of the meet
and greet and pick up of the baby ***
-Contact us to let us know you are interested in owning a new baby hedgehog. If you are a first time hedgehog owner, I will ask you to feel free to ask any questions.
-We will then set up a time when you come to meet the babies available. All Deposits are Non-Refundable.
-If you plan on putting down a deposit, the baby will be separated once (S)he before taking them home for easy transitioning. All babies have to be at least 200 grams before they can leave, so keep in mind, if the baby is 7 weeks old and not reached this amount, we will require him or her, to stay a little longer till they reach the 200g.
-After a couple of days, if the baby is doing well with being separated (eating and drinking independently) we will contact you to arrange a pick up time.
-On pick-up day, the rest of the payment is due in full (If the baby is 250 the remaining 175 will be due Cash Only, Babies start at 375 and up depending on color, s*x and temperament)
We will want to see a picture of the cage that you plan on housing your baby in. The baby will go home with some extras in their take home boxes to make them feel comfortable and happy!
-We hope you keep us updated on the babies as we love to see them well loved and cared for! Policies:
We have our hedgehogs in our home so all All Meet and Greets and Pick Up of your baby are by appointment only. We are very flexible and do our best to work with what times work for you. Wait Lists:
We have two wait lists. One is our Priority wait list, which requires a deposit of 75..00 (78.00 if paid with PayPal, which includes the PayPal Processing Fee. We Do Not Except Personal Checks )
Second is a General wait list. Both of these wait lists we will need contact info ( name address phone number and a email that you check regularly) We will contact the people on the "Priority Wait List First" Once everyone on this list has the opportunity to pick their new babies. The people on the "General Wait List" will be contacted before the remaining babies are available to the "Public". Right around 2 weeks of age, i will begin contacting everyone, it is very important that you provide contact info where i am able to reach you. All Deposits are Non-Refundable, so please take the time to research hedgehogs and their care. Babies are expected to be picked up by 8 weeks. If you need them to stay longer please let us know and we can arrange something to help accommodate you. if you do not contact use prior to the Max Pick up, you may risk having your baby going to another family. Most breeders have you pick your babies up earlier, we keep them a tad bit longer to make sure that there is no health issues, problems eating and that they have the time to adjust to living in a cage by their selves. If you have any questions Please Feel Free to Ask. WE DO NOT SELL HEDGEHOGS WITH BREEDING RIGHTS
(unless written consent from Cape Cod Hedgehogs has been received or you are a Licensed USDA Breeder)
All owners have to sign a contract before they can take their new Quill Kid Home. You have to be 18 Years of Age to Adopt through us, a Valid License is needed in order to pick up and at the time of the signing of the contract. We take ownership of our hedgehogs seriously (as with any animal) There are no Exceptions of this. If you plan on getting a hedgehog as a GIFT. We recommend it not to be a surprise gift. That the person that it for, also comes to meet them. If the Hedgehog is for a child, the Parent needs to be the one that is responsible for the hedgehog, the child can help.. We love our hedgehogs and it is our responsibility to make sure that they will be properly cared for. We need you to find a Vet that can care for your hedgehog prior to them going home. We will need to know who this vet it for your hedgehogs file. If you need help finding one. Please feel free to contact us. Hedgehogs are not required to have check ups or shots. But we recommend that you bring your hedgehog in for yearly check ups. This will allow you to get to know your vet, in case of an emergency and also a Vet will be checking your hedgehog for things that we (as pet owners) would not know to look for. Preventive care is very important with these little guys.. Check ups are very important. Here is a link to a list of Vets that treat hedgehogs in our area. It is Very Important that you understand that Hedgehogs are Nocturnal. This means that they are awake during the night. They can be woken up during the day, but will be less grumpy during their "Normal Day Time" at night. Many hedgehogs don't mind being woken up to play, but if your hedgehog becomes very grouchy.. remember how you would feel if you were woken up at 2AM to run around and play. You will have to learn to read your hedgehog and what (S)he may like vs dislike. Hedgehogs go through stages of Quilling. This process is when they shed the quills that they have and have new ones come in. This is very painful and scary for a little hedgehog. Love and Understanding is very important. We will go over this in more depth when you come meet your hedgehog. Heath Guarantee:
Cape Cod Hedgehog's guarantees that all hedgehogs born here (to the best of our knowledge) are free from any health issues (problems) at the time they go home. No hedgehog if we have any concerns will leave us (example if they are not at a weight that we feel is safe for them to leave us, we will keep them longer). We love and care deeply about all of our hedgehogs and want to ensure that they have a happy strong healthy start. Warranty
All baby hedgehogs are guaranteed to be free from Wobbly Hedgehog Syndrome (WHS). If your hedgehog passes away from WHS, we require a necropsy stating the cause of death was WHS (from a licensed Veterinarian that specializes in this or of one of our choosing, at Buyers Cost)
If this should happen we will replace the hedgehog (first choose of the next available baby). Cape Cod Hedgehogs, is not liable for any medical bills that may result from this and this guarantee does not cover shipping costs, only replacement of the hedgehog. If you believe that your hedgehog has WHS, please contact a vet to rule out a number of other non life treating illnesses before just looking at your hedgehog and thinking they have this. EX: If your hedgehog has a ear infection, the symptoms are similar to WHS, where the hedgehog could be wobbling and falling over. Some have done this when they only had a UTI. its very important that a licensed vet sees you hedgehog to ensure proper treatment)
All Hedgehog Born here at Cape Cod Hedgehogs come with a 6 month of age congenital health guarantee. The 6 month guarantee on my hedgehogs that were born here. This does not cover Rescues. We will replace your hedgehog if it dies within the first 6 months of life, with a vet necropsy stating that the hedgehog had a congenital problem (something it was born with or a hereditary problem that solely was the cause of death). We will NOT replace a hedgehog if something happened to it due to negligence, injury, improper diet, or illness that was not taken care of. All Veterinarian Costs and all other costs are the responsibility of the owner. Cape Cod Hedgehogs in no way is responsible for Vet Bills and/or other related costs that might develop from the Hedgehog that was Adopted from us after the Date in which the contract is signed and the hedgehog leaves our care. Money will Not be refunded for the Hedgehog or (again) any veterinarian bills. The Warranty is for replacement of the Hedgehog only. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Shipping:
