Have you spotted baby wildlife in your yard?
It’s that time of year that birds and other wildlife have built their nests and young animals are starting to explore. If you happen to find a baby bird or other baby animal, it may seem tempting to try and help them but the best thing we can do is to leave baby wildlife where they are. Birds and small mammals may wander away from their nests as they are learning to fly and learning to be more independent. Although they may seem helpless or injured, this is most often not the case and it is important that we give them their space to explore.
If you do find visibly injured or orphaned baby wildlife, please contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitator for assistance. For a list of wildlife rehabilitators in your area, visit https://www.mass.gov/service-details/find-a-wildlife-rehabilitator
