We like to have full disclosure with the public of Barnwell County because our overfilled shelter is an overpopulation problem for everyone. Sadly, our shelter is over capacity by 10 dogs. This is just to get us to full capacity, not a comfortable number that will allow for dogs coming into the shelter from animal control.
We are having to make a hard choice and make a list of potential dogs to put down due to this lack of space.
Please help us share this post with rescues and adopters alike, so that another miracle may happen, and we are able to get these dogs out of the shelter instead of having to euthanize.
These dogs are at risk for euthanasia. There are many more adoptable dogs at the shelter that will not be listed.
Fee is sponsored for any dog on this list. All others $50 through January.

Although the shelter is open today until 4pm,
please call 803-259-1656 and wait in your car if you have business with us today.

There is solid ice across our sidewalk and in front of the doors. We don't want to chance anyone getting hurt.

ANNOUNCEMENT: The shelter is completely full with dogs and will not be taking in any pet surrenders until further notice.

We also ask that if you pick up a stray animal without calling Animal Control, that you make arrangements to keep the animal and have it scanned at the vet's office until the shelter is able to take in more animals.

I want to say a heart felt thank you to Lizzie Ellis, Erica Ellis, Holly Ellis, Jerry Blume, Dylan Ray, and Allye Ray for their hard work today building a structure to keep the dogs warm. They did a great job and it's very toasty!
