3. Low-Cost Medical Care for Pets
4. Spay/Neuter assistance
5. Free Microchipping
6. Low-Cost Behavior Training Classes
7. Emergency housing assistance for Pets (Limited foster placement)
8. Weather appropriate housing assistance for Pets (Heat lamps, straw, tarps for shading, dog houses, raised platforms, etc.)

Meet at Petco of Aiken on March 15th at 11:45am. We will walk Dogs from BCAS around the store and outside to try to get them adopted that day. They will be spayed and vaccinated already. We will give you information about the dog you are walking to prepare you. All adoptions will be handled by the employees present so no pressure there. It'll be a fun activity, and you will help get longtime residents of the shelter a new home! Call 803-259-1656 or message the page or email [email protected] if you would be willing to help!

In addition to the Pet Pantry program at the Barnwell County Animal Shelter, we will be sharing cat and dog food with the county's various food banks for distribution to the public.

If you know a program in your area that would be willing to participate, please have them email Marlena at [email protected].

We are back from our conference at Carolina's Unite! We are so excited about the friends we made and the information that we learned. The main take-away I learned was that people are just as much part of our work in animal welfare as the animals are. In order to make a change in overcrowding in the shelters across the nation, but specifically in our small town, is to combine animal health and safety with public education and support.
We look forward to using the tools that we learned at the conference to improve our programs and outreach efforts.
