Not every kitty is a people person right off the bat! In fact, Miss Ella wouldn't let us with 5 feet of her without hissing and spitting when she was first surrendered!
We've made a lot of progress (She no longer hisses the second we appear) but she's still prone to giving us a good smack if we get too close for too long!
But given the slow blinks we get when we chat with her during cleaning, We'd say she's coming around!
Hopefully that zero can become a 1 someday soon!

Kitten Season just never seems to end here in Vermont - especially with the abundance of barn cat colonies around!
These two (and two of their siblings) are part of just such a story! It is so important to focus on spays and neuters in barn cat societies to help stop the overpopulation of cats in our state!
These little darlings get picked off by owls, coyotes, traffic, and cold so fast and farmers often find themselves overwhelmed with dumped cats and kittens that simply add to the problem.
We love kittens as much as anyone, but remember, the more homeless kittens there are, the more there will be next year without proper vetting!

When all mom wants is dinner and her little kitten has the same idea! These little strays certainly have some personality!

If you want a cat who just wants to be as close to you as physically possible as often as he can, Smudge is your man! This sweet boy is a little nervous so he's hanging out at the flowershop next door to try and meet his people! 6 years old with so much love to give! Why not stop by and meet him? Smudge is looking for a home calm - no dogs or small children. He doesn't mind other cats or older kids and LOVES to just sit beside you for hours on end!

The weather was warm enough where we thought our little lady might enjoy some outside time! She seemed to like watching the world go by in the sun ❤️❤️❤️

When you're feeling a bit more spry than usual and that predator instinct kicks in! We're working on getting Alphie's strength up and it looks like it's starting to pay off! Just look at the light in this little girls eyes! Thank you so much to the people who have donated towards her care so far! We are in the process of getting vets' opinions on our next course of action and hope to have a full plan in place soon! #catcafe #cats #catsofinstagram #instacats #sheltercats

Just another sign that there is a happy little kitty buried under all this scruffy fur! Alphie caught a little sniff of catnip and seemed to enjoy it immensely!

She doesn't go far, but Alphie has started taking little walks around the house and store! Those wobbly legs get stronger every day and while we sometimes have to go looking for her when she does it without notice, we don't mind a little hide and seek if it means progress! #catcafe #cats #catsofinstagram #sheltercats

This big development might count as TMI but we have never been so excited about a cat using the litter box!! Alphie is still extra wobbly, but she not only needing to go to the bathroom, but even looms for the box on her own! This is a huge deal as it means she has enough water and food in her to need to remove it from her body again! We're so excited go see her activity increase - even if it's a little personal - and can't wait to see this turn into some weight gain in the future! Want to help kitties like Alphie?
