We will also host a Road Rally and charity gala on Saturday, July 13. The Barrington Concours d’Elegance, Legends & Legacies, is held in Barrington, Illinois, a picturesque countryside village just 40 miles northwest of Chicago. The Barrington Concours d’Elegance was founded and hosted in 2007 by three Barrington-area charities: Barrington Area Conservation Trust, Cowboy Dreams of Illinois, and Ho
spice of Northeastern Illinois. Proceeds were split equally between these three organizations. Founding sponsors were Motor Werks of Barrington and Makray Memorial Golf Club; founding exhibitors were Malcolm Pray with his 1937 Delahaye 135M Cabriolet and Rick Dresang with his 1972 All-American Racers Eagle Indy. In 2008, Barrington Area Conservation Trust and Hospice of Northeastern Illinois again joined forces to present the Concours at Arlington Park. All proceeds were split equally between these two charities. In 2009, with a nod to the economy, the Barrington Concours presented Legends & Legacies: Celebrating a Century on Wheels at Makray Memorial Golf Club on July 12, 2009. The event kicked off with a Road Rally across the Chicago region and was followed by an elegant evening dinner at Makray featuring 20 to 25 of the most stunning classic vehicles from around the Chicago region. In 2010, we hosted Legends & Legacies: Windy City Wonders at Makray Memorial Golf Club on Sunday, July 11, 2010. And on July 10, 2011, we will again host Legends & Legacies at Makray Memorial Golf Club. The purpose of bringing the Concours to Barrington was to showcase not only the “Legends & Legacies” of the automotive world, but also to bring attention to the “Legends & Legacies” of the Barrington area — a wonderful community of philanthropic-minded individuals who live in one of the most unique and picturesque areas in the Midwest. Featuring rolling pastures, vast open prairies, and miles of equestrian trails, the Barrington area is renowned as a place where people care about each other and are passionate about the stewardship of their natural resources, which benefits the entire state. The Chicago areas's premier celebration of the world's finest and most rare classic vehicles.
