We’re getting ready for Paws In The Park at Lee Lake (across from Lowe’s) starting tomorrow at 10am with lots of fun planned! Take a walk around the lake with your awesome dogs and compete for prizes in our Scavenger Hunt, musical PAWS Walk and Human Slot Machine! Doggies will have fun bobbin’ for wieners and testing agility skills. Nail trims courtesy of Glamour Pets for $5. Our friends Truity Credit Union are providing lunch too! Register at event or arfok.org. Registration is $30 and includes 1 dog. Additional dogs $15 each (max 3).

Say hello to Wesley, Spike and Oz! These boys turned 11 weeks old 9/9/2024. They are located in Tulsa, Oklahoma and are ready to find their forever homes! These puppies were born in a foster home after their momma (Buffy) joined the Russell Rescue family this summer.

We sadly had 6 large puppies dumped on us this week. We are using our cameras and will file chargers. We do not have the space or financial ability to care for these puppies. We have a state limit to capacity and we are now over that limit. We have already given them their first puppy shots and wormed them. They were loaded with whip worms.

Please if you can help with donations of Purina One large breed puppy food and Nutro small breed puppy food (for puppies we already had). You can drop food by or have it shipped to:

We can also really use help with vetting. It will cost $700 to get these 6 puppies fully vetted. We are trying hard to get them on a transport up north so they can get adopted quickly. But, they typically must have 2 parvo shots, worming, and be fixed before a transport will take them. We still have a black lab, Izzy that we took in at 3 months old and she has now been at ARF for a year. We do not want these puppies to grow up in the shelter system.

Toby is a senior Dachshund here at ARF that always listens and is normally very energetic and playful. Recently we discovered that his teeth were rotting out so we rushed him to the vet and had surgery done on his mouth. Most of Toby's teeth were extracted and the remaining ones were healed. Toby is back to his normal self and will be on soft food for the foreseeable future. The dental Bill was $600, if you would like to contribute you can use this posts donation link or use our P.O. Twister the Chinese Crested is looking for a new home. To Chinese crested lovers he is gorgeous. If you don't know the breed they are a little odd looking, but a great conversation starters on a walk.

AKC says: The Chinese Crested loves to spend time with his owner. This makes him a great candidate for competitive sports such as agility, flyball, and obedience, and they make great therapy dogs. They also enjoy and do well at lure coursing. They have a very sensitive nature and must be trained with gentle patience. Harsh words and negative actions on your part can damage your relationship to the point that he will not be interested in learning further from you.

Twister is 2.5 years old and weighs about 12 lbs. He gets along with other dogs, but can be a little pushy with food bowls. He currently rooms with 2 other dogs and they do fine with separate bowls a few feet apart from each other. He is Heartworm positive but has no symptoms. We have started him on the “slow method” of antibiotics and ivermectin. We will provide the ivermectin pills needed so that he’s on them for a year.

Buddy is a very sweet, young Anatolian Shepard from Pawhuska. He was brought to us by a neighbor who saw his owners moving out of their house abandoning him in the process. Buddy tried to get in the car when he fell under it causing it to run over his leg completely destroying his shoulder. We have taken care of all medical bills regarding his leg. Buddy was pretty shy when he first came to us but but began to like the staff very quickly, now he's extremely loving and wanting for attention. He learned how to run and balance on three legs extremely quickly playing in the yard with other dogs during the day. Its almost like he's not missing it at all.

Buddy is very good on a leash, listens well and loves to sit on peoples laps. We recently had someone looking to adopt him but it fell through, he is approaching his one year at ARF while only being one and a half years old. UPDATE ❤️❤️❤️Adopted❤️❤️❤️!

Update! We believe he is being adopted tomorrow. We have 2 backup applications if the first adopter does not work out we will let them know.

Chester is a 2 year old Australian Cattle Dog mix here at ARF. We keep him in the office with us throughout the day instead of a kennel because of how smart and obedient he is. Chester learns new tricks/concepts very quickly and has no health concerns. He likes his people friends far more than his dog ones. Being with us for 2 years Chester has spent almost all his life at ARF and is in desperate need for a loving home. He is house trained and okay with kids/cats and other dogs that wont bully him. Chester loves pets and attention and cant get enough of it, he is the perfect lap dog.
