🐾 We are in urgent need of a foster home for a pregnant dog who is expected to give birth any day now. She and her puppies will need a safe, stable, and quiet environment for approximately 8 weeks where they can receive careful attention and care.

🐾 Sweet Pea's beautiful spirit matches her lovely name, making her a treasure to know. The health and well being of Sweet Pea and her puppies depend on finding a responsible and compassionate foster as soon as possible. We will provide all necessary supplies, including food, bedding, and veterinary care.

After 𝟰𝟯𝟬 days in our shelter, our incredible bonded pair is 𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐋𝐋 𝗪𝗔𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚 for their forever home! 💔 The two of them have been granted a temporary short-term foster home, and we continue to search for their forever family. Don't just take our word for it; here's what the foster has to say about how exceptional these two really are:

“These two dogs are exceptionally well-behaved (significantly more mannered than my own 😂🤣)! We have numerous positive qualities to highlight.

💩 They are completely housebroken, with zero accidents!

💤 They're crate trained, and it's their go-to quiet space, both at night and during the day. We never hear a peep!!

🗣️ Whisper and Kaboom know their basic commands and are easily corrected with verbal cues.

🌳⚽️ They're calm and well-behaved on leashes and in social settings, joining us at various events and outings, including soccer games and SPCA events.

🚙 Both of them ride well in the car, staying in the backseat.

🎾 Toys are not their interest, they prefer wrestling, walking, and chasing squirrels. Whisper needs a tall fence to prevent escaping during squirrel chases.

🦴 Neither of them have shown any food aggression towards each other or adults, and both of them take treats very gently.

👨‍👩‍👦 Whisper and Kaboom thrive on positive encouragement and affection. They were nervous and scared when they first arrived but over time warmed up to everyone. Although they have tolerated my young, very active children, their ideal home would be one with older children.

🍫 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮, an 11-month-old female Pitbull, resembles a KitKat. Need a break from your busy day to play? She's got your back! 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮 would be sure to remind you to take a much deserved break to enjoy life's little pleasures (like puppy kisses)!

🌈 𝗞𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗲, a 1-year-old female Labrador Retriever, is similar to Skittles. With such a colorful and vibrant personality, 𝗞𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗲 would give you no choice but to taste the rainbow.

🥜 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘁, a 1-year-old female mixed breed, would be a Snickers. She is packed with nuts, caramel, and a whole lot of snuggles. 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘁 is guaranteed to satisfy your sweet tooth (and your need for cuddles).

🧡💛🤍 𝗦𝗮𝗺𝗺𝘆, a 1-year-old male Pitbull, would naturally be Candy Corn. Just like the classic candy, 𝗦𝗮𝗺𝗺𝘆 is oh-so-sweet and irresistibly adorable. You'll fall in love one corny kiss at a time.

🚨 URGENT: WE NEED YOUR HELP 🚨

In the last week alone, Washington County SPCA has taken in 41 new animals, adding to the 224 already in our care. Our kennel space for dogs is maxed out, and with the strong winds and an impending storm, it’s critical to keep your pets indoors and secure your fences. 🏠🌧️

Animal Control is overwhelmed by the surge in stray dog calls, and we’re doing everything we can to help. If you're missing a pet, please come by for a walk-through at the shelter — there are just too many animals for us to post each one individually. We're open until 6:00 pm today.

As Halloween approaches, we wanted to highlight important safety considerations for pet owners. 💀🕷🐾

🍫 Chocolate, gum, and candy are not healthy for pets. Make sure your garbage can is secure, as candy wrappers can also smell tempting. You can give them their own treats! 🦴

🕯🌱 Decorative plants can be toxic and candles can be dangerous if tipped over. Battery operated candles can reduce fire risks.

👻 Costumes are optional. Don't force your pet to wear a costume if they seem stressed by it.

🚪 If your pet gets anxious about knocking or doorbells, greet trick-or-treaters outside, or just leave the candy bowl out there. Loud decorations, flashing lights, or costumes can be frightening. Try to keep them away.

🏷 Spooked pets can get lost. It is important that your pet is microchipped with up to date information, as well as a tag with your info.

💤 Party poopers are ok! Anxious pets can benefit from a quiet place in the house away from loud trick-or-treaters and opening doors.
