👑🐾 King’s DO “poodle my doodle” transFURmation ✨🐩
I can’t say how happy this request made me 🤣 I’ve always wanted to do exactly this with King! He’s got a great coat, face, and feet for poodling. This handsome Good Boy inherited a very poodle face, and I’ve been really curious about what he’d look like sans beard. Plus, it’s incredibly rare that anyone wants their doodle to look like the poodle half of their parentage, so it was exciting!!
King was not so thrilled! We’ve never shaved his face or his whole feet before, so this was a bit creepy in his opinion. I’m positive that if his family enjoys the look (and less mess and hassle!) that he’ll soon be as perfectly chill about these things as he is everything else and we can do an even better job 🥰

Then, he got to hang out for a bit, too! He totally knew residents Vesta and Chad were quietly being given dinner at the other end of the house, and treated the grooming cat and I to extra full body wagging and shimmy dancing 😂
Don’t think he was deprived! Knowing his parents needed to get him later, I was sure to have extra Stewie snacks 😁

A Norman Before & After!
He was SO good 🥰 Not only did he just nap (in between having to stretch and give kisses) while having his paws done, he was so at ease with being dried that I got to properly brush his ears while doing so. That’s some awesome progress, Norm!

I tried to convince Oli and his brother Ruger that we didn’t really need to do the backyard today due to the rain and mud and such. However, they informed me that this is The Routine, and as such, not optional or dependent upon weather conditions 😂
We went outside.
We found and chased balls, they sniffed everything, and peed until it was just fake peeing, as one does. All is right with the world now, and we can get to pre-bath work now 😎

Is it beautiful? No, unless you’re a cat, but it’s layers of ongoing fun!
And, it’s quick, easy, and depending on what you’ve already got in your house, could be free! (If not, it’s very cheap.)
✨YOU NEED:
-cardboard box, should be small enough to make a compact “puzzle” style toy but not too small, thick enough to withstand cat impacts for a while
-Kraft paper or other safe, little tougher than average, packing type paper (you want it to crinkle, be light enough to paw and pull at, etc no plastic)
-cat’s favorite treats
-cat’s favorite catnip
*totally use your cat’s preferred treats, but don’t use anything wet or that will spoil if not eaten in a few hours
**Nip I used and two brands PPS residents and sitting friends go especially wild for: Vital Life catnip + passionflower blend and catnip + silvervine blend used, also recommend Smokey’s Stash brand.
✨HOW TO:
Use one oversized cutting or tearing of Kraft paper to line the bottom of the box, it helps keep everything more together and can lessen nip sticking in box folds and immediately coating your floor, too.
Sprinkle a little nip, add a treat or two.
Go with your instincts and the box size. I tore three more oversized pieces. With these, make wrinkled, twisted around, etc layers. Same as first; little nip, little treats in each like a lasagna.
Make some smaller pieces of the paper. Again, put nip and a treat down in the middle of each, then, wad it up into a loose ball, just tight enough to not instantly dump its contents. Place balls about in the box.
Add some exciting or favored toys to the top, and put down for cats to investigate!
Exercise caution and know your cat. Make it very easy the first time.

Not so surprised that he didn’t help clean the cookies up lol
🐾 The eggs are plastic with a few small holes in them, not sure what they’re intended for, but I immediately thought of easy treat sniffing!
🐾 PLEASE, if you do this, or I’ve sent your kid home with their (refilled) egg, exercise caution. They’re very thin, and dogs who might go after them seriously shouldn’t be allowed to pick up the egg in their mouth. Like everything, supervise closely if you let them sniff them out.

Just so you all know that your dog’s friend, Sixlette the Grooming Assistant Cat, is a normal cat when it comes to the oddest bits of chaos 😂 Want to know what she got on her feet?
The expensive silk treatment! In a rush, a bottle was left open. As the door to this room was closed all day, one would assume some safety, but nope! Because this is where Six likes to have her evening canned food, long after having graduated to eating peacefully in the same room as the other cats. As you know, whatever makes them happy, right? Right!
In the five minutes she was left alone in there, presumably enjoying her present selection of the ocean’s stinkiest delights, she moved the bottle about a foot and knocked it over. Not only did over half of it end up in a puddle on the counter, she clearly had continued standing in it, allowing her beans to marinate in the silk smoothness.
After this deep hydrating paw treatment she invented and applied to herself like the obvious feline genius she is, she spread it around.
✨Cleanup: an hour.
✨Counter: I don’t think it’ll ever come off, but it’s so shiny now!
✨Floor: at least the faux ice skating is contained to this room.
✨Sixlette’s beans: so soft, hydrated, even more touchable, 10/10 scent
✨Silk treatment: thankfully, a tiny bit does it!
*yes, her paws were wiped off! I didn’t seriously allow that to totally remain on her! While, obviously, pet-safe, cats are extremely sensitive to…everything. Getting ten times the amount of this I use on a thick coated dog in the large to extra large category on her wasn’t a great idea 😉

I can never get over how incredible her transformation from rescue has been! Every visit, there’s another little thing she’s more confident, calm, and cooperative about 💜 All little things, because she made huge leaps just in the first few visits! I love that she now tries to put on the hammock as well, like so many, she enjoys her low pressure snoozes 😆 *she needs it because the neglectful breeder who had her messed up her pelvis, she gets unstable and hurty after long standing.
ps: y’all, I don’t do nasty comments, we all know that Precious is rotund, thank you. Losing it has been an ongoing struggle since adoption, and believe it or not, she isn’t given a bunch of cookies or anything! She’d like to recommend frozen sweet peas 😉 mine also love snap peas and fresh green beans, none of which are fattening!

✨get a grip! While your dog’s pads are vital for grip, wild hair grows fast even in 4 weeks, top paw fur grows down between toes. Disabled dogs might slide less when a paw folds.

We had Sassy & Normie time today! 💜 Yesterday was Sassy’s 6th birthday 🥳🎂
As you see, there weren’t many clips this time…Sassy isn’t doing so well, her knees are in rebellion 😖 Positive thoughts for a surgery-free holiday season, relief, and smooth recovery! 💕 Mr. Norman has had a bit of a rough time, too, and everyone’s allergies are just awful, we love you too, Norm, and thank you for all the kisses and laughs, even when you’re anxious! 🥰
You can likely also see that they look a bit different. To try to keep weight off her legs, keep her maximum comfortable, and prepare for the Just in Case (if it might be a bit before she can visit again), her face, lip-line, and legs were much shorter…and she’s embracing the Poodle Paws 😅
Really, with the amount of kids who don’t enjoy their own foot fuzzies, get things stuck in their paw fur, and act as Swiffers in reverse 😂 I’m thinking maybe we we should all reconsider our takes on clean shaven paws!! I think they can be super cute, and think of the nail polish options 💅🏻
To get Sassy home before her meds wore down, and because Norm had some less than comfy spots and a recent cleaning, his usual neatening was foregone for just sanitary trimming, neatening his nude lil tail, and ventilation to his ears. He was awesome! We didn’t have one anxious sprinkle!! And he loved his extra bed and outside time.
While I never want to do anything less, the dogs always come first 🐾💜 and it is simply not always possible or in their best interest. Sometimes, quicker, less neat things are the deal, especially when specializing in elderly, disabled, and less cooperative dogs. It’s really a blessing to have pet parents say it first, concerned parents/guardians are the kind we love and want ✨

Polly has three older doxie house-siblings, but prefers playing with her German shepherd “sisters.” This funny, smart, and sweet girl loves to pluck stuffing from toys and, unfortunately, beds. When not trying to do that, she’s into hula hoops, apparently.
Polly’s favorite things during sitting: time playing outside with her “sisters” while I cheerlead, following me to supervise what I’m doing, and snuggling.
