Pounce de Leon is an up and coming new Non Profit Cat Rescue made up of previous Kitty Up volunteers and supporters. Their goal is to rescue cats in the Bartow, Paulding, and Cobb areas but they need your help!

They just took on a new case, a beautiful orange cat named Garfield that was severely abused.

We encourage you to like, follow, and share so that we can get this kitty the help that it needs. As well as the many others they plan on helping along their journey.

Cat rescues need support! They can’t do this without the help of wonderful supporters like you guys!

Thank you
-Kitty Up

We wanted to take a min and share a heartfelt thank you to so many of you. So many rescues, people and friends stepped up to make sure our emergency need was met. We literally couldn’t have done it without all of you. The immense amount of help we received was nothing short of a miracle. We have had an outpouring of love, kind words, help and support.

We wanted to say THANK YOU from the deepest part of our hearts for helping us get through this uncharted road. You are the hero’s that go unseen way too often, by making such a difference, thank you!

Unfortunately, this is needing to be addressed as we have not be given the privacy and time that we asked for as we navigate this loss.

We have had to come together as a small team and work through some of the hardest days to secure the wellbeing of the rescue. The cats are our priority, thankfully we were able to achieve this with the help of so many. We know the rescue world lost an amazing woman. We didn’t abandon the cause we simply asked for time as we closed the shelter and found security for our cats as we personally and collectively navigated though the loss of our founder. We have all the plans to revisit and make decisions in the weeks to come to continue to honor and support Malissa legacy, however that looks.

We have spent countless hours, blood, sweat and tears building this rescue with her over the last few years to save as many cats as possible. The side you don’t always see is the middle of the night runs, the early 5am morning, the endless phone calls, the emergencies, the 18 hour days, the never ending amount of cats, the tears and sheer exhaustion.

Demands, negative comments and opinions should not even be a part of this, yet we are still being bombarded with them. It’s extremely disappointing to even have to ask for the decency to process. We are grieving the loss of our friend on top of grieving our rescue, the cats, the dynamic and more than you could possibly imagine. Please take the time to be considerate and guard lovingly your opinions.

As we we get through this we will be posting and sharing our plans and decision for the future. We deeply appreciate everyone who has reached out and honored Malissa and all of us here at the rescue. We look forward to seeing how we can still try and make a difference to help continue the legacy that was built out of her dream.

It is with a very heavy heart that we have some difficult news to share. Unfortunately, our founder and the owner of Kitty Up, Malissa, passed away unexpectedly. As you can imagine we are all devastated and in complete shock. Malissa was truly one of a kind.

She always went above and beyond pouring her life into saving cats and helping so many people in need. Over the last 3 years, with her efforts, this small little rescue saved thousands of cats and changed their lives forever. No kitty too small, old, sick or hurt, she said yes every single time she could and still said yes when she knew it was going to be a hard road.

She was loved by so many in the community and had a ripple effect in the lives of people all over. She was our founder, a mother, a wife, an advocate and above all a friend. We will deeply miss her and all the ways she impacted each of us.

Over the next few weeks we will be making all the arrangements to close the shelter and honor her memory, passion and life’s work. We ask for privacy and time to grieve as we transition forward through this heartbreaking tragedy.
