A demonstration of a dog's natural instinct to make a counterclockwise circle. So when your dog gets lost it will continue to repeat this circle in an attempt to pick up the scent it left behind to find its way back home. If they were to do a clockwise circle it would continue to move them away from their home or where they were lost from. That's why hunters leave clothing their jackets, whatever behind if a dog does not return because they will do a counterclockwise circle until they come back to the scent they recognize.
