UPDATE 7/13/23!
We have a crew diligently working on the large dog park. This will be a time consuming project. Please be patient while we make the park safe again. While this will take a while to complete, we hope to have the top portion of the large park opened soon. We promise to let you guys know as soon as it is open.

Important information 2/7/23!
Both of our dog park areas will be closed on 2/7/23 to allow the removal of dead branches and trees that pose a possible safety hazard to the public and their dogs. It is our hope to have the parks back open by 2/8/23. Thank you for your patience while we improve the safety of our dog parks.

EDITED POST: I work for animal control. The statement in quotes is the exact statement we have heard 3 times in the last week or so. It was not about my personal dogs, I assure you they are laid up on my leather couch in the AC. I was trying to get my point across on the fact that people don’t think it will happen to their dog but yet it is the same exact sentence every single time.

“I came home, and my dog has died in the backyard." Don't let this be you and your pet! Even if your pet is used to being outdoors, this heat is unforgiving. We are strongly encouraging owners to bring their pets inside during the heat of the day. Even fresh water will not be fresh after an hour. Wait to walk your dog until after the sun goes down or early in the morning. NEVER leave your pet in the car, not even for a minute. "My dog has plenty of shade." With this heat, shade may not be enough. Please take care of yourselves and your pets!

Early morning showers are ending and clouds will depart later this morning, setting the stage for a return of very hot conditions. Southwest breezes will push the mercury from the mid 70sto the mid 90s. A Heat Advisory is in effect this afternoon. Practice good heat safety!

We have started setting up for our Rabies and Microchip Extravaganza tomorrow, the 14th. We do have barricades set up to block out parking, but you are still able to use the park. We have parking closer to the shelter. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, we will have everything back to normal sometime Sunday.
