Happy New year all. We have some health updates and a request for donations coming at you. LONG POST with updates.
We unfortunately are starting out the new year with the same $13,000 dollar debt that we left with last year. Our end of year fundraiser raised only $330 total.....On top of our regular monthly bills we have done several Spay/neuters already and we had some steep medical bills and more coming next week. So we BEG you to please consider donating $5 to help us whittle this debt down. You can click the link attached or send directly to the non profit paypal [email protected] ALL amounts of donations are appreciated .
Now onto the updates. Eve, the christmas eve Kitten that we rescued, Has been spayes and has found her forever home! YAY. George, A feral who started showing up at one of our feeding stations, was trapped and neutered on Tuesday.
Now the not great updates. Brandon: As previously posted Brandon has been having a setback with his triaditis and his liver levels were extremely high. We got an ultrasound done and the did a fine needle aspirate of the pancreas and liver. The samples were sent out rather than just read in house. the findings are not conclusive and there is EXTENSIVE "things" going on, but it points to chroinc hepatitis and pancreatitis and most likely liver failure. He also has nodules on his organs. This could of course mean Cancer. We will not be doing a full under anesthetic biopsy because IF it is liver cancer we will not put him through treatment. It would be a very poor prognosis, and he is just not that cat that will do well with treatment. I can barely find him to medicate him with the 4 medications they have him on. He is barely eating, he has lost 1 pound within the last 30 days. The vets said we could try a feeding tube, but the comunication I am getting from Brandon is just telling me no.
As many of you know, we go to great lengths to help our sick rescues. BUT and this is a big BUT. We truly read the animal and let them guide us as to how far to go. We are hoping maybe the Pred, Metronidazole, Gabapentin, Miritaz, & Cerenia can help him get back on track. This will be a day by day assessment. Send him lots of love.
Butterbean: A few month ago we discovered that one of his ni***es and the surrounding area was inflammed and hard underneath. The vet did an aspirate and did not see any really concerning cells, so we put him on an antibiotic and it seemed to improve. Last week we noticed it again and it seem worse this time. There is a palpable lump underneath again. The vet said at this point we really need surgically remove the lump and send it off for pathology and he will need a dental at the same time since he will be under anesthesia they felt it best to do it all at once. It could just be a benign lump that if removed will put the issue to rest. Let's hope for that.
Thomas: Thomas's siezures areunder control with the Phenobarbitol and Gabapentin. But his leg seems to be getting worse and so his ability to walk is becoming more of an issue. We carry him from place to place as much as possible now. When he wants to go upstairs, or down the basement, he stands at the corner of the wall and scratches to let us know he needs a ride. We call it the bus stop lol.
OK I THINK that's it for today..that's Enough!
Again, Please consider even a small donation if you are able. I know times are tough and UNSTABLE in this country, so if it isn't possible to donate we understand, but like we always say EVERY dollar helps.
