HELP US IDENTIFY THEFT SUSPECTS

Shortly after the Victim's wallet was stolen from Hobby Lobby on South Florida Avenue, the two suspects pictured entered used credit cards from the wallet at Target (Harden Blvd) and GameStop (Lakeside Village).

Anyone with information which could help identify these fraud and theft suspects please contact Detective Colton Thompson at (863) 834-6974 or [email protected].

So proud of Xzavier and our entire Polk County Special Olympics Equestrian Team!

Agility, skills, precision, showmanship, and courage. It was all on display at this year’s State Equestrian Competition. Held recently at the World Equestrian Center in Ocala, about 230 athletes and Unified partners from across the state were on hand to ride in a series of events over the two-day competition. Rockin W Ranch and A Heart for HERO's, Inc are looking for a couple ponies to fill the gap Bo left. Between the Tiny Trotters class and camp beginners, we’re currently looking for two ponies: one around 10-11 hands and another around 12-13 hands. We need ponies that are quiet and calm and forgiving. If you can assist us with our search, please call or leave a text message at 863-205-1494. We are willing to purchase but tax deductible Donations can be made through A Heart for HEROs. We could also use a 15 hand western pleasure horse for beginners and Special Olympians. Today Bojangles Spirit crossed the Rainbow Bridge. He came to Rockin W Ranch 23 years ago as a scrawny 2 year old with a couple of interesting pony habits that did not especially endear him to his young riders at first. However, all the riders who took Bo as their 4H project, learned the importance of focus and clear, consistent aids. Because he would not give them a "free" ride, they learned good horsemanship skills and became impressive riders.

Throughout his life's work as a lesson pony, Bo taught many life lessons not the least of which were perseverance and patience. He was proficient in both western pleasure and English IF the rider made it happen. He qualified for the State 4-H Show every year he was a project horse. Bo taught hundreds of children to ride and many were inspired to go on to greater horsemanship skills.

Bo will certainly be missed at Rockin W Ranch. He was one of our primary lesson horses for beginners and helped many young riders on their equestrian journey.His last outing was the Day Without Disabilities at the Bunch Ranch.

The greatest gift you could give Bo, is to help us find a pony to take over his duties. And that's pretty big horseshoes to fill!!

Special Olympics Equestrian Registration is now OPEN!

1. Showmanship (non-riding) - Mandatory 1st year.

Showmanship - You will learn all about your horse and how to groom, tack, and show your horse to a judge. You will learn a pattern leading the horse and be judged in the competition.

2. Horsemanship (riding)

Horsemanship - You will learn all the aspects of riding your horse properly while focusing on learning a Trail Pattern (navigating obstacles) and Equitation (taking direction from a judge).

**Please Note - registering for the equestrian team does NOT guarantee a spot on a team. There are many factors to be taken into consideration for team placement. Please remember this is a competition team and NOT HIPPO or Equine Therapy.

We will evaluate each individual athlete’s ability. If your athlete qualifies but we do not have a team or horse available, they will be waitlisted.

To be considered for a team:

• Athletes must be 12 years old or older.
• Athlete must have the cognitive ability to assist in an emergency dismount situation for their safety.
• Athletes must provide an equestrian helmet and cowboy boots.
• Athletes MUST provide 1-2 Class A volunteer(s) who attend every practice and assist the coach during the lesson.
• Volunteer MUST be able to walk and run next to the horse in the arena dirt.
