We at SDS are here to support you with your service dog needs. We offer a variety of services including personalized one on one- or small group coaching sessions to assist clients who are self training their service dogs. We also select and train a few dogs each year for placement at prices far lower than typical program dogs that may cost double to triple what we have. Thus you are getting what you pay for... a started, but not finished dog with obedience and public access training to acceptable level ( about 80-90% ). What the dogs need is time and repetition.
Our available dogs may or may not be started on some general task training. Such as pattern Interruption, pressure therapy, word recognition, retrieval, and targeting to name a few. These have usually not been shaped into client specific tasks- until a proper match is made. Since SD's are trained specifically for their handlers. Additional training and consistency will be needed. Which again is why we are lower cost, dont thav a multiyear waiting list, and can often have a dog ready in several months. If we do not have one immediately available. We are a small side hustle group, helping people the best we can on a limited budget, thus we can provide very individualized support for your service dog needs.

We are preparing the online formatting and will announce things starting in a couple months. We look forward to all your questions and cant wait to see how we can change your SD problems- into service dog Solutions

Picked up a new training prospect. Total blank slate, but picking up on leash training already and excellent confidence at busy highway rest areas, and rides nicely in the car.

Ghost has been doing well with his Public Access work. He is proven in stores, public transportation ( bus, train, airplane). He is still young and lacking confidence in parking lots around traffic, but settles nicely in restaurants, crowded airports, or community gatherings. Walks well on leash, including hands free leash.

It is important to understand the FHA and ADA regulations as a Service Dog handler. We will go over these with you as part of our training program. Many of our graduates choose to carry educational cards such as these to hand out.

Great wisdom to have at hand for an emergency. Remember to always use veterinarian advice, but this will help until you get in for that visit. We also recommend building a human/dog first aid kit.

The month is half over, but there is still time! I am an organ donor, if you choose to be an organ donor be certain your family knows, update your drivers license or state ID.

Every April, Donate Life America leads the celebration of National Donate Life Month (NDLM). First celebrated in 2003, NDLM aims to draw national attention to the importance of organ, eye and tissue donation and honor those who have saved and healed lives through the gift of donation.

For many of our teammates, National Donate Life Month holds a special place in their hearts. Today, Nancie Ellis, Medical Network Lead, shares her story of why NDLM is important to her.

“There are currently over 100,000 people waiting for organ transplants, and every eight minutes, another person is added to the list. Additionally, each day, sixteen people die while waiting for an organ transplant – something I know about all too well. Nine years ago, I lost my 30-year-old daughter, Ann, as she was unable to receive a liver transplant in time.

“There are two ways to donate: as a living donor or a deceased donor. As a living donor, you can donate a whole kidney or part of your liver. This is possible because you can live a healthy life with only one whole kidney, and the liver regenerates itself to become whole again in only a few months.

“The impact from deceased donors is even greater: you can save up to eight lives, restore sight to two people and help more than 75 others heal. My nephew passed away many years ago from injuries sustained in a car accident and was pronounced brain dead. My brother agreed to donate his organs, eyes and tissues, saving and healing thirteen different lives. While we lost my nephew, he lives on in those thirteen other lives that were changed for the better.

“Having lost a 30-year-old child is devastating, but losing a child because they were not able to receive a transplant in time makes it worse. No one should lose a loved one this way. Please consider organ donation and talk to your friends and family to make sure they understand your wishes. Many people need transplants. I, along with the family and friends of those in need, thank you for your consideration.”
