Our sweet Great Dane/Mastiff patient, Aarg, grew up a bit (now 175 lbs) and has had some recent health issues at the age of 22 months old. He presented with painful, bleeding re**al polyps. We were able to coordinate with our local internal medicine specialist, Dr. Catherine Peace, and our local surgery specialist, Dr. Andrea DeLuke, for a same day procedure at Basehor Veterinary Clinic for colonoscopy and colore**al surgery. Our Veterinary Technicians, April and Megan, and our Vet Assistant, Alexis, worked alongside Dr. Peace’s and Dr. DeLuke’s Vet Techs for this team effort that we believe will prove curative for Aarg. We are so proud to be able to accommodate this for our (once little) guy!

We adopted! Meet Ringel! She has already stolen our hearts! She is in clinic cat training learning all of the ropes and being spoiled beyond belief!

Our hearts are broken as we lost our treasured CeCe today due to chronic kidney disease. She went very peacefully surrounded by her clinic family. She had an amazing 17 years. We will miss her shenanigans, but we have a lifetime of hysterical stories. She was truly a member of our team, and in her eyes the leader of the team. Her spunky spirit could make you laugh on the most difficult of days. The clinic already seems so empty without her. We love you, CeCe. Thank you for being there for us.

We’ve certainly had a week with our loss of our phone system for 2 days. I applaud my staff for how we adapted and tried to reach out to those calling us as much as we could, even if it meant letting you know Simple Simon’s was also down😂 We are all very compassionate about the care of your pets. This is our team along with Dr. Peace with Meadowlark Veterinary Specialists performing upper GI endoscopy at Basehor Vet Clinic. Our patient, who is owned by our amazing veterinary assistant Cassie, is actually a cadaver dog who gets deployed all over the US to search for victims.

We have celebrated, in the last week, being in our new building for one year! This has been a labor of love, with an amazing team. We opened in the new building October 24, 2022. I pulled up the stats today from exactly year to date of October 24, 2021-Oct 24, 2022 and October 24, 2022-Oct 24, 2023. We were able to treat more than 500 more patients than the previous year. I attribute this mainly to this amazing team, but also to our quadruple space, options for day hospitalizations, drop off appointments, and urgent same day appointments. We are incredibly proud to be able to serve our community and surrounding communities better. Thank you for trusting your pets to us….Love, Dr. Lightfoot
