🐾 September is Pain Awareness Month! 🐾

Did you know that our furry friends are experts at hiding pain? Cats and dogs often mask their discomfort, making it challenging for us to notice when something’s wrong. Here are a few signs to watch for:

🐢 Dogs might show:
- Limping or stiffness
- Changes in appetite or sleep patterns
- Excessive licking of a particular area
- Reluctance to jump or climb stairs

🐱 Cats may:
- Hide more than usual
- Stop grooming themselves
- Become less active or playful
- Show aggression when touched
- Jump onto furniture in a stepwise approach (ground to chair to table instead on ground directly to table)

Even subtle changes in behavior can indicate that your pet is in pain. At Nurture Animal Clinic, we’re here to help you ensure your beloved companion’s comfort and well-being. If you suspect your pet might be in pain, don’t hesitateβ€”talk to us about a pain management plan tailored to their needs.

πŸ“ž Call us today to schedule a consultation with one of our veterinarians. Let’s keep your pets happy, healthy, and pain-free! 🐾

Happy Friday Pet Lovers! 🌟

Did you know that ensuring your furry friend gets the best nutrition is crucial for their health and happiness? That's where AAFCO comes in! 🐢🐱

What is AAFCO?
The Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) sets the nutritional standards for pet foods sold in the U.S. This ensures that your pet's food is safe and nutritionally balanced.

Why is this important for your pet?
Pet foods that meet AAFCO standards have been formulated to provide all the essential nutrients your pet needs for a healthy life.

What should you look for?
When selecting your pet's food, check the packaging for the statement:

"Formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO Dog Food Nutrient Profile."

This statement guarantees that the food has been tested and meets AAFCO's strict nutritional guidelines. πŸ₯‡

Pro Tip: Not all pet foods are created equal! Look for this AAFCO statement to ensure you're giving your pet a balanced diet.

Have questions about your pet's nutrition or the best food options? Our team at Nurture Animal Clinic is here to help! Drop by or give us a call. Your pet’s health is our top priority. πŸ’š

Hello, Nurture Animal Clinic Family!

As pet parents, we know you strive to give your furry friends the best nutrition possible. Recently, grain-free dog foods have become quite popular, but it's crucial to understand the facts behind this trend.

🌾 Grain Allergies in Dogs:
Did you know that grain allergies are actually quite rare in dogs? Most dogs tolerate grains very well. Food allergies in dogs are more commonly related to proteins like beef, dairy, or chicken.

πŸ’“ The DCM Connection:
There has been growing concern about the link between grain-free diets and Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM), a serious heart condition. The FDA and veterinary cardiologists have found a potential association between grain-free foods and increased DCM cases. While research is ongoing, it is believed that certain ingredients commonly used in grain-free diets, such as legumes, peas, and lentils, might play a role in this condition.

πŸ“‹ Our Recommendation:

-Consult Your Veterinarian: Before making any changes to your pet's diet, it's always best to talk to your vet. They can help determine the best nutrition plan tailored to your dog's specific needs.

-Balanced Diet: Ensure your dog's food provides balanced nutrition. Grain-inclusive diets are safe for most dogs and can be part of a healthy diet.

-Stay Informed: Keep up with the latest research and recommendations from trusted sources to make the best choices for your pet.

Your dog's health and happiness are our top priorities. If you have any questions or concerns about your pet's diet, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us!

05/03/2024

πŸ“’ Hello, wonderful cat parents! Today, we're delving into an important topic: the FeLV vaccine. Whether you're a seasoned cat owner or new to the feline family, this vaccine is worth knowing about!

🐱 What is the FeLV vaccine?
FeLV stands for Feline Leukemia Virus, a contagious disease that predisposes the infected cat to certain types of cancer, such as lymphoma and leukemia. These cancers can affect various parts of the body and do not respond well to treatment once they develop.

πŸ” Why is it important?
Feline Leukemia Virus is most commonly spread through close contact with infected cats, such as grooming, sharing food and water bowls, or even just through mutual snuggles. Vaccinating your cat against FeLV can significantly reduce their risk of contracting this potentially life-threatening disease.

πŸ’‰ When should my cat get vaccinated?
All kittens should receive the FeLV vaccine as part of their core vaccination series, starting at around 8 weeks of age, with booster shots given every 3-4 weeks until they're about 16 weeks old. However, for adult cats, whether they need to continue receiving the vaccine depends on their lifestyle and risk factors.

🏑 Who should maintain the vaccine?
While all kittens should receive the initial series of FeLV vaccinations, only outdoor cats or indoor cats living in households with FeLV-positive cats should continue receiving booster shots throughout adulthood. If your cat stays indoors exclusively and doesn't come into contact with potentially infected cats, they may not need to maintain the vaccine after their initial series.

πŸŽ‰ Let's keep those whiskers healthy and happy!
By vaccinating your cat against FeLV, you're taking an important step towards protecting their health and well-being. Whether your cat is a curious outdoor explorer or a cozy indoor snuggler, their safety and happiness are our top priorities!

😺 Got questions?
If you have any questions about FeLV vaccinations or any other aspect of your cat's health, don't hesitate to reach out. We're here to provide the guidance and support you need to keep your feline friend thriving!

Here's to a lifetime of purrs, playfulness, and endless love with your fabulous feline companions! πŸ₯³πŸΎ

05/02/2024

πŸ“’ Hey there, fabulous feline aficionados! We're back with more essential vaccine information, and this time, we're talking all about the FVRCP vaccine – a must for every cat parent!

🐱 What is the FVRCP vaccine?
FVRCP stands for Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis (herpesvirus), Calicivirus, and Panleukopenia (also known as feline distemper). This combination vaccine is designed to protect our purrfect pals against three common and potentially serious diseases.

πŸ” Why is it important?
Feline viral rhinotracheitis and calicivirus are both respiratory viruses that can cause symptoms like sneezing, coughing, nasal discharge, and conjunctivitis. Panleukopenia, on the other hand, is a highly contagious and often fatal disease that affects a cat's gastrointestinal tract, causing severe vomiting, diarrhea, and dehydration.

πŸ’‰ When should my cat get vaccinated?
Kittens can start their FVRCP vaccinations as early as 8 weeks of age, with booster shots given every 3-4 weeks until they're about 16 weeks old. Adult cats should receive booster vaccinations annually to maintain their immunity against these diseases.

πŸ‘©β€βš•οΈ Where can I get my cat vaccinated?
Look no further than Nurture Animal Clinic for all your cat's vaccination needs! Our team of feline-friendly experts is here to ensure your whiskered wonder receives the best care possible, including protection against FVRCP and other preventable diseases.

πŸŽ‰ Let's keep those whiskers wiggling!
By vaccinating your cat against FVRCP, you're not only safeguarding their health but also helping to prevent the spread of these contagious diseases within the feline community. It's a small but significant step towards keeping our furry friends happy and thriving!

😺 Got questions?
If you have any questions about FVRCP vaccinations or any other aspect of your cat's health, don't hesitate to reach out to us. We're here to provide the guidance and support you need to give your feline friend the longest, happiest, and healthiest life possible!

Here's to endless purrs, playful pounces, and a lifetime of love with your fabulous feline companions! πŸ₯³πŸΎ

04/30/2024

πŸ“’ Hey there, pawsome pet parents! We're back with more important information about vaccinations, and this week, we're shining a spotlight on rabies vaccinations for our beloved furry companions – cats, dogs, and even ferrets!

🦝🐱🐢 Why is the rabies vaccine crucial?
Rabies is a deadly viral disease that affects the central nervous system of mammals, including humans. It's typically transmitted through the bite of an infected animal, with wildlife like raccoons, bats, and skunks being common carriers. Vaccinating your pets against rabies not only protects them but also helps prevent the spread of this dangerous disease to humans.

πŸ’‰ When should my pet get vaccinated?
Puppies and kittens typically receive their first rabies vaccine at 16 weeks of age, with booster shots given annually or every three years, depending on the species and the vaccine used.

🚫 Don't skip it – it's the law!
Remember, keeping your pet up-to-date on their rabies vaccination isn't just good practice – it's the law in many areas – including Clermont County. Failure to comply with rabies vaccination requirements can result in fines or other penalties, not to mention the risk to your pet's health and the safety of your community.

πŸŽ‰ Let's keep our pets safe and rabies-free!
By vaccinating your cats, dogs, and ferrets against rabies, you're not only fulfilling your legal obligations but also taking a proactive step towards protecting their health and the well-being of everyone around them. It's a win-win for everyone involved!

🐾 Got questions?
If you have any questions about rabies vaccinations or any other aspect of your pet's health, don't hesitate to reach out to us. We're here to provide the guidance and support you need to keep your furry friends happy, healthy, and rabies-free!

Here's to many more years of wagging tails and purring cuddles! πŸ₯³πŸΎ
