Founded in 1949, League for Animal Welfare is a privately funded, non-profit organization providing much-needed care for unwanted, lost and neglected cats and dogs in our community.
It’s an incredible crew of 28 staff and over 400 volunteers that make the League the special place that it is (and this is a very small portion of those awesome people - so if you got better pics of todays picnic, share them in the comments!).

We are CLOSED today for our Staff and Volunteer Appreciation Picnic (yes, it is going to rain for the entire thing. Apparently Mother Nature doesn't appreciate us quite as much as we appreciate ourselves ...)
ANYWHO, plan to adopt your best friend, foster your best friend, or take your best friend for a field trip TOMORROW during our regular hours (12-7pm).

Help, the babies are hungry! We have lots of kitten bottle babies in foster (and more calls to take them in every day!). We are in desperate need of PetAg brand KMR formula powder. Come meet some of our dogs eligible for short term fostering (overnights, weekends, event fostering, and up to 2 weeks)! We will provide pizza, talk about our short term dog foster program, and introduce you to some of our awesome dogs who need a break from the stress of shelter life.

Did you know, at our weekly vaccine clinic, your pet can get its DaPP/FVRCP (distemper) vaccine for FREE?!?
Thanks to 's "Vaccinated and Loved" campaign, the League distributes these critical vaccines to our area's pets at no cost to you! Pets who come through our vaccine clinic (Fridays from 11-1) or our spay/neuter clinics are eligible for the vaccine.
For dogs, the DaPP vaccine protects against Distemper, Adenovirus, Parvo, and Parainfluenza (these can be fatal, especially in puppies!).
For cats, the FVRCP vaccine protects against feline Herpes, Calici, and Panleukopenia (really nasty bugs!).
These are the most important vaccines your pet can get - they should get them boostered every 3-4 weeks as kittens/puppies; and annually as adults.
Get yours this Friday from 11am-1pm at the League (4193 Taylor Road, Batavia). No appointment necessary; no vet visit fee; no geographic restrictions (pets from any county welcome).
It's always a bummer when an adoptive home isn't a forever home.
But in this case, Applejack came back to us, after a year in a home, emaciated; battling a serious infection; and feeling overall really crummy.
This is the right place for her right now; and we'll find the best place for her when she feels better
Badger didn't know, when he went into a foster home for the weekend, that his whole world was about to change.
Foster mom Sarah didn't know, when she went to Little Miami Brewing for a relaxing afternoon, she would give Badger the thing he needed most in this world.
But worlds collided, and Badger happened to meet his new family (Badgers fans from Wisconsin!) while out for a fun afternoon at a local brewery.
It's onto Wisconsin for this boy - Go Badger(s)!

Sweet and timid Liberty got to go into a foster home during the cold snap - but the foster home had vewwwwy scawwwwy stairs in it!
