Talk about self-sabotage... after the last of the fence enclosing back yard went up, I planned for two new beds, thinking my 2024 seed will go in one and the 2025 seeds to the other. By then, my research tells me that the 2022 bed can be turned around for 2026 seeds.... Hummm, then why did I plant one full new bed with registered acquisitions? I'm my own worst enemy! 🤦‍♀️

About a month or so ago, I was collecting, drying, labeling and chilling my seeds for the year but we'd had a lot of rain. This cross' seeds were splitting in the pod and looked like they would die in storage. So I put them out in the new seedling bed I had just finished. I won't be able to grow seedlings this winter inside, so I plan to direct sow in April. For 3 weeks, these didn't grow and I thought they were dead. Surprise!!!

I've added a daylily to my want list and it is HARD to find. It doesn't show up on the Lily Auction, open or closed, Google search doesn't show it at any garden that can be searched (some garden listings of plants can't be searched), or with any sellers I know that I have asked so far.... Anybody have this and willing to part with some?

Just returned from a wonderful weekend at Lilyhemmer, Reg 3's fall event and it never fails to impress! Those attending had so much knowledge and are all so kind! Today, I planted my last new plants for 2024. It feels like New Year's Eve, the end of the daylily year 🎆🎇🎆

Fish Scaler, Hansen-D 2022, was on my want list for at least a year and I just got it this summer! Blooming now and...WOW! It's much more intricate than my photo can show. End of September in northern Ohio and the hits just keep on coming!

During the summer we enjoy masses of blooms but now in the latter half of September, those last late blooms are individually much appreciated. Check the last photo for something unexpected in the captions.

Yesterday I dropped in at Curt Hansen's Crintonic Gardens to pick up ONE daylily I had won at the Reg 2 Summer Meeting in July
(Cue the riotous laughter) Stopping here for ONE daylily is like eating ONE honey roast peanut. It's like wearing ONE sock. It's like watching just the first in a two part series that you've been waiting for. So I'm wandering around the late season garden and see something that looks like a yucca at first glance but then see this Jurassic Park scape! Check the pics to see what it was, and yes, I got that two, I mean too. (See what I did there :-) ?

Four Airedales and the few daylilies I liveheaded this evening. All four love the flowers so much it's hard to skip this step. If they ever get into the daylight beds, it's going to be a hermero-massacre! ...I'll just go check those gates again now.
