This weekend was World Veterinary Day! We take this day to celebrate our associate veterinarians! The care they provide our patients and our clients is amazing and they make HanoverView a special hospital to be a part of. Heim Construction Co. Inc. has been working hard on phase 3 of the hospital remodel all while doing it in a way we can stay open. It has not been any easy process but we are 75% complete with our total remodel.

Starting tomorrow and next week we are going to lose access to certain pass throughs in the hospital. This will not stop us from caring for our patients but it will slow down our efficiency. Please be patient with our staff. They have been amazing through this process but next week may be the hardest logistically we have had to face.

We had a an amazing night at the Bath Halloween Parade. Thank you to Seiple Farms for once again helping us with our float and thank you to Heim Construction Co. Inc. for supplying us with some of our gear. This year has definitely been under construction but we are so grateful for our staff and the memories we make.

Happy 8th Birthday HanoverView!

It is hard to believe that 8 years ago HanoverView Animal Hospital opened. A LOT has happened in those 8 years and we are so grateful to continue to serve our community and look forward to the years ahead.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that every bat found inside a building or home be tested for rabies if there was possible human contact (e.g. if people were sleeping in the room). This is because it is possible to be bitten by a bat and not even know it.

This is the exact situation one of our clients find themselves in. We submitted a bat yesterday that was found overnight in their home and we just got the report that the bat was positive!

The family is working with the Department of Health and Department of Agriculture to make sure everyone receives the care they need. Unfortunately their indoor only cats were not up to date on their rabies vaccine and will now need to be quarantined for 180 days.

We are so grateful this family was proactive and reached out for help and guidance. We will continue to help them however we can. We also hope to use this opportunity to educate the public on what to do if there is a bat in your house and the importance of keeping even your indoor only cats up to date on their vaccines.

Construction picture update! As you can see phase 1 is in full swing. The framing for our new exam rooms and our new treatment/ pharmacy is up. Our receptionists have been amazing working through all of this as construction gets closer and closer to them!

Exciting news! The remodel is progressing and they are ready to “break through” with additions. This means we will be operating curbside for the next month or so. We will have 1 exam room available for urgent/ emergency appointments and euthanasias.

Again we truly appreciate everyone’s support and understanding through this remodel. We are doing our best to stay open and meeting the needs of our patients!

A letter from Dr. Ervin:

I thought the last few years and dealing with the pandemic challenged me as a practice owner but the last 2 months have added a whole different layer. I wanted to take a moment and communicate what has been happening behind the scenes at HanoverView.

Our schedule: We have never had to reschedule so many appointments as we have in the last 2 months. Please know that we understand how important your time is and that we do not reschedule appointments lightly. The last 2 months have been unprecedented- we had a staff member pass away, a doctor who had two deaths in their immediate family and a doctor out ill for multiple days. Again, I promise we do our best as a team to cover for each other and if we can avoid rescheduling patients we do. This level of rescheduling is not “the norm” for us and we do not ever want it to be.

The remodel: If you have driven by recently you have seen the addition! We are again committed to staying open as much as possible during the remodel but there are times where we are going to have to shift to curbside appointments to be able to see patients and continue the remodel. We will do our best to communicate these times with you before your appointment so that you know what to expect.

Communication: We are going to be launching PetDesk for HanoverView! PetDesk is a web based/app based platform that will hopefully streamline communication and provide owners with more access to their pets records and us.

It has been a challenging 2 months and things have been far from perfect but I hope our clients know that we truly do care about them and the service we provide them.
