Scooter Update: He didnβt gain any weight today, but he didnβt Lose any so thatβs good!Gave him a bath, then hereβs me giving him his Critical Care and washing his eye out. Thereβs still a film over his eyes from the stuck shed. Fingers Crossed!ππ¦π
Dr Alan Grant Update:Turns out heβs a she!! Also check out this awesome new mansion heβs in! From being abandoned in a parking lot to this makes our hearts full!β€οΈπβ€οΈπ¦
Daisy!Daisyβs eyes are all back to normal! When we got her her eyes were totally shut due to an infection and stuck shed. She was also underweight. We are running a test on her this week and then hopefully we can adopt her out soon!! Thanks everyone for following her journey and giving us encouragement ππ¦π
Falkor got an upgrade for his tank today! We made a bioactive tank for him aka a fully functional environment with live plants and a cleanup crew of springtails and isopods. This was possible due to a very generous donation from an LSU vet school student.
Meet our newest surrender Pumpkin! Sheβs an African Sideneck Turtle. Sheβs about 5 years old and seems to be in good health. Cool Facts: because of their long necks they canβt pull their heads back like other species of turtles but put it to the side. Also because of their long necks they can right themselves if they ever find themselves on their backs unlike most species of turtles.
Picoππ¦π To everyone new Pico was surrendered to us with MBD. Lucky he was young and we treated it so heβs gotten a lot better (his bones arenβt so wobbly and he doesnβt walk as weird, as well as put in weight). You can tell in the video that his front legs are shaped differently (bent weird). We love Pico
Daisy Update:
Her last night after her soak, eye flush, eye drops, and dinner. BOTH of their eyes are open!! One of them is still half open some of the times but itβs still getting better each day. Sheβs up to 37 grams, 2 grams since last post and 12 since we got her. Itβs looking like she could be healthy enough to adopt out one day!ππ¦π
Daisy Update: Sheβs up 11 grams since we got her. She still gets her Critical Care along with a superworm or roach a night. Along with her soaks, eye rinses, eye drops, and Silver Sulfadiazine for her eyes. I just got what looks like the last of the stuck shed off her eyes and sheβs been opening them both so itβs looking hopeful.ππ¦π
DAISY UPDATE:
This is HUGE! Daisy has finally started to eat some on her own! Since this sweet girl has come to us, weβve had to syringe feed her because her eyes are so infected she couldnβt see to hunt. Weβve been doing subcutaneous fluids, anti inflammatory injections, flushing her eyes, and applying a few different eye medications several times a day but all the hard work is FINALLY paying off! This little lady is a fighter!
Taking care of these cases are tough because we get so attached. Every victory means so much but it also means treatment can become very expensive. If you can help in anyway wether that be through a donation or just by sharing this post, it would mean so much to us and sweet Daisy! Thank you to everyone whoβs asked for updates and all her doctors that are continuing to help us with her care. WEβRE ROOTING FOR YOU DAISY! πΌ
