🎉 It’s official — Liberty Lagoon is making a splashy return! BREC is thrilled to announce the water park’s long-awaited reopening, kicking off with a phased rollout starting Sunday, June 29 and leading up to our full SEASON OPENING celebration on July 4! 💦🎆

📣 BREC Announces Strategic Leadership Appointments Effective immediately, BREC welcomes Johanna Landreneau as Interim Chief Human Resources Officer and Maurice Velasquez as Interim Chief Operating Officer, under the leadership of Interim Superintendent Janet Simmons.

Landreneau, a recognized expert in employment law and HR strategy, and Velasquez, an expert in organizational transformation, are joining forces to guide BREC into its next chapter of excellence.

Both Landreneau and Velasquez have worked closely with Simmons in the past, delivering results through strategic leadership, collaboration, and a deep commitment to community.

Their combined experience and commitment to community make them ideal leaders to help shape a stronger, more effective BREC for East Baton Rouge Parish.

While Liberty Lagoon may appear open, we are still closed. ❌ The parking lot does appear full 🚗🚗🚗, but that is actually Liberty Lagoon staff who are on site helping handle tasks and putting on the final touches ✨ to welcome the public back with open arms very soon. 💙

On June 13, we celebrated the grand opening of a reimagined Howell Community Park with a new rec center, pool, playgrounds, and more

This project is a true investment in health, equity, and community connection.Thanks to our partners, staff, and residents who made it possible 💚
